Structure Skills 11-15

Menjelaskan tentang subjek-subjek (01.00-03.24)

➢ Singular Subject Is / Was (ex: The book is new. He was sick.)
➢ Plural Subject Are / Were (ex: The books were old. They are happy.)
➢ I / You / We / They Verb 1 (ex: They go to campus.)
➢ He / She / It Verb 1 + (-S/-Es) (ex: She walks on the road.)

• Skill 11 : Agreement After Prepositional Phrases (03.25-05.43)

Apabila subjek pada skill ini tunggal, maka kata kerjanya juga tunggal. Begitupun pada
subjek yang jamak, maka kata kerjanya juga jamak (-s).
Tanda -s pada kata kerja (verb) biasanya menunjukan bahwa kata kerja itu tunggal,
sedangkan pada kata benda (noun) menunjukan bahwa kata benda itu jamak (kecuali : Such
as women, children, and people).
Example :
➢ The dog bark at night (Singular)

➢ The dogs barks at night (Plural)

• Skill 12 : Agreement After Expressions of Quantity (05.44-08.35)

Pada skill ini subjek pada expression seperti (all, most, atau some) tergantung
prepositionnya. Bisa tunggal (Singular), jamak (Plural), dan tidak terhitung (Uncountable).

Example :
 ➢ Most (of the meal) was delicious. (Singular)

➢ Most (of the meals) were delicious. (Plural)

• Skill 13 : Agreement After Certain Words (08.36-10.45)

Pada skill ini subjek atau kata kerja setelah kata tertentu. Kata-kata atau ungkapan ini
secara Bahasa tunggal, jadu mereka menggunakan kata kerja tunggal.

✓ anybody everybody nobody somebody each*(+noun)

✓ anyone everyone no one someone every*(+noun)
✓ anything everything nothing something *(tidak boleh + noun)
Example :
➢ No one here is afraid of skydiving.

➢ Everyone in the world needs love and respect.

• Skill 14 : Parallel Structure with Coordinate Conjunctions (10.46-13.54)

Pada skill ini ada konjungsi koordinat (and, but, or) yang menggabungkan ekspresi
yang setara. Konjungsi ini dapat bergabung dengan kata benda, kata kerja, kata sifat atau
frase dan klausa (letak depan dan belakang harus sama kata apa yang digunakan); hanya
menggabungkan struktur yang sama.

Pada skill ini konjungsinya berpasangan both…and, either…nor, and not
only…but also.
