    LEARNING INSIGHTS:

    ● The term ergonomics from the Greek meaning "work", and meaning "natural

    law" first entered the modern lexicon when Polish scientist Wojciech

    Jastrzębowski used the word in his 1857 article. The Outline of Ergonomics;

    i.e. Science of Work, Based on the Truths Taken from Natural Science.

    However, much of the ergonomic training, instruction, and education

    developed over the years fails to consider true human kinetics. Take, for

    instance, that old “Safe Lifting” video we’ve all been forced to watch at some

    point. Ergonomics is a science driven profession that attempts to maximize

    human performance while minimizing risk for injuries. The goal of an

    ergonomic intervention is to modify work to meet the needs of the worker –

    not the other way around.
