An article for our school's magazine

Nowadays, the use of drugs is a matter of concern, especially to parents of students. At

this young age, they start to be curious and they want to impress their friends. That’s a
factor that may lead to drug abuse.

We all know that drugs had negative effects on our organism, but there is much we
don’t know. First of all, according to the article “Paying through the nose” from the
magazine The Economist, alcohol is the drug that causes more health damage and
harm to others, including economic and environmental costs, crime and injury. Despite
this information, alcohol seems to be the most used substance by young people. The
same goes for tobacco, which has a high risk of health damage and mortality.

Secondly, the most addictive drugs are crack cocaine, which is a type of cocaine that
can be smoked, methamphetamine, alcohol and heroin. Even though they aren’t the
most used drugs, its effects can cause unrepairable damage.

To conclude, this is an issue for the students, their families and the whole society. We
are all involved in that fact in one way or another. So, we need to understand how to
use this substances prudency and be more conscientious of its effects.
