Before my learning contract activity took

place. I thought about my strengths deeply and

how I would use them during my learning

contract. One strength, in particular, came to

mind when thinking about this. According to

Gallup, one of my top strengths is input. Input

to me is when one tends to collect and archive

information. Someone with input is able to

form relationships based on the information

they collect. They are also able to share that information with others. I wanted to learn about and

use this during my learning contract activity, which was the cleanup at the University of Rhode

Island. During this activity, we broke off into small groups in order to collect as much trash as

possible. Due to this, I had to get to know my group members so we could work together as

efficiently as possible. During the activity, I asked them many questions. I asked where they

were from and we talked about what we liked to do. This helped us a lot because it made the

experience much more enjoyable, as we were talking the entire time. I was able to learn a lot

about them and now, I can call them my friends.

When coming out of the activity, I learned that my skill of input can be very useful when

working with others. This is because it helps me establish relationships with others who I am

working with. I want to continue to learn more about this strength I have so I can use it even

more in other activities I do. I can use this skill as a leader because as a leader, you must be able
to establish relationships with others. It is necessary to get to know the people you are working

with in order to complete the task efficiently. Therefore, I believe input is important when trying

to lead others as when you get to know others, you realize their potential and you can help them

succeed.
