The student will be able to engage
in the class science lesson on

vegetables. Each student gets the
opportunity to learn about different
fruits and vegetables and act out a
story using the different fruit and
vegetable props from the home
center.
Observation guides will be used to record data from the
students’ performance during the lesson. Teachers will
communicate in the classroom to share the observed goals
met from each student and collectively as a classroom.
Procedural steps:
The teacher will engage the students and whole class by
setting a ‘stage’ in the classroom, specifically the home
center area, with culturally appropriate and relevant materials
students can use to dress up with, as well as props to use for
acting.
The teacher will communicate with the students that they can
dress up however they like and have the opportunity to act
out a story they make.

acting out portion of the lesson.

Lesson goals will be written out and new academic
language will be displayed and easily accessible in the
classroom for students.
Additional support for accommodating diverse learners
will be provided with extra time before the lesson is
implemented for the teacher to go over the lesson plan
with the diverse learner and communicate any
adaptations to the lesson based on their need.
The teacher will ask the students and go over what they have
learned so far about fruits and vegetables, and overall
concepts of produce. Teachers also have the time to ask
students if they can distinguish what the fruits and vegetables
are using the toy props in the home center while giving
examples as well.
Teachers will give students the option to act out the story
however they may see fit, as long as it ties in concepts of
using fruits and vegetables.
After the students have acted out, there is time at the end of
the lesson for students to draw what they gained from the

lesson and the option to draw what they learned or a

depiction of each of their acted out stories.
Safety Considerations:

Objects used in the lesson such as

props and costumes must be
sanitized after students use them.
