The earth's
surface is always
changing
because of
weathering and
erosion.
Deposition
▪ When soil is washed away from one place
to another place it can carry harmful
materials like chemicals and fertilizer.
▪ Deposition is the building up of rocks and
dirt.
▪ Rising water traps sediment and deposits
it in new locations.
▪ Rain can wear away rock and carry tiny
pieces of the rock to a new places.
▪ Acid rain breaks apart limestone.

▪ Plant roots can wedge their way in between

small cracks in rocks.

▪ Landslides destroy everything in their paths, they

even crush rocks together.

▪ Extreme weather can cause accelerated erosion.

Example
Wind carries small pieces of rock
off the side of a mountain.
