TRABAHO
(REFLECTION PAPER)

Millions of individuals throughout the world are impacted by the serious problem of
unemployment. It has been a more common issue in recent years in many nations, especially in
the aftermath of the COVID-19 epidemic. The difficulties and problems that many Filipinos have
in obtaining and retaining employment are highlighted in Brandon Binas' documentary
"Trabaho." The movie offers a compelling glimpse into the daily struggles of those without
steady employment and how it affects their families, relationships, and general well-being. This
reflection paper will examine the topics of unemployment, its origins and consequences, and
potential solutions to solve this urgent problem via the prism of "Trabaho."

The poor economic growth of the Philippines is one of the factors contributing to
unemployment. To fulfill the need for jobs, several businesses, including manufacturing and
agriculture, have been having difficulty hiring enough people. The mismatch between the skills
of the workers and the demands of the labor market is another problem. Many Filipinos,
especially in the service and technology industries, lack the education or training required to
land well-paying employment.

Unemployment can have significant and lingering repercussions. Without a reliable source
of income, people and families struggle to get by in the movie. To make ends meet, many are
compelled to work unpaid jobs or commit minor crimes. Moreover, mental health problems like
melancholy and anxiety, as well as strained relationships and social isolation, can be brought on
by unemployment.

Both the public and private sectors must work together in a determined effort to alleviate
unemployment. By investing in infrastructure projects or offering tax breaks to firms, the
government may develop policies and programs that support employee development. The
government can also fund training and education initiatives to assist Filipinos in developing the
skills necessary to compete in the labor market.

Nonetheless, the private sector may also have a significant impact on job growth and
unemployment reduction. Companies and the government can collaborate to develop
internships, apprenticeships, and job training programs. To develop new markets and
employment prospects, they might also make investments in technology and innovation.

In conclusion, unemployment is a serious problem that many Filipinos face, and the film
"Trabaho" explores the intricacies and difficulties it presents. We can strive to increase job
possibilities and address the underlying causes of unemployment by partnering with the
corporate sector and the government. By doing this, we can enhance the quality of life for many
Filipinos and build a society that is more just and affluent.
