AMENDING THE DECLARED TODA EXAMPLES

1. Given the following declared distances, what value of take-off distance would you
use to enter to the AFM graphs for a Class B Take-off?

TORA 1500 m

TODA 1800 m

ASDA 1600 m

Here is a stopway or clearway. The value can not be greater tan:

TORA= 1500 m so

TODA/1.15 = 1565,21m

ASDA/1.3 = 1230,76m  Porque es mas restrictivo.

2. Given a declared TORA of 2000 m, no stopway or clearway, what value of take-off

distance would you use to enter the AFM graphs for a Class B Take-off?

With no stopway or clearway the distance used would be TORA/1.25 = 1538,46m

GRADIENT = CHANGE OF HEIGHT/HORIZONTAL DISTANCE

%GRADIENT = (CHANGE OF HEIGHT x 100)/HORIZONTAL DISTANCE

TAN γ = OPPSITE/ADJACENT = 1/10 = 0.1

TAN-1 0.1 = 5.71º

RUNWAY SLOPE

1. Runway 09 has a threshold elevation of 672ft. The TORA is 2600 m, the TODA 2800 m
and the ASDA 2800 m.
The opposing runway 27 has a threshold elevation of 735ft, and a TORA, TODA and
ASDA of 2600 m.
Determine the runway gradient on 09.

The distance between thresholds is 2600 m or 2600 x 3.28 = 8528 ft.

The difference in threhold elevation is 735 – 672 = 63 ft.

%GRADIENT = (63 x 100)/8528 = 0.738% UP.
