COMPREHENSIVE DANGEROUS DRUGS

ACT OF 2002
The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 or Republic Act No. 9165 is a
consolidation of Senate Bill No. 1858 and House Bill No. 4433. It was enacted and
passed by the Senate of the Philippines and House of Representatives of the
Philippines on May 30, 2002 and May 29, 2002, respectively. It was signed into law
by President [Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo] on January 23, 2002.This is the law that
prohibits/ regulates the use of any dangerous drug that can harm or damage the
human body system.

It employs the following laws:


*NO buying or selling of any dangerous drug
*NO trading, shipping or stocking of any prohibited drug.
*NO buying or using of any material that is used in making any dangerous drug.
*NO owning of plants that are used as ingredients in making prohibited drug.

Any person caught violating these acts will be imprisoned for life and will pay a fine
ranging from 500,000 to 10 M pesos.

This act is responsible for making the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency which is
the agency responsible for performing actions or missions that has something to do
with the prohibited drugs.

Declaration of policy:
It is the policy of the State to safeguard the integrity of its territory and the
well-being of its citizenry particularly the youth, from the harmful effects of
dangerous drugs on their physical and mental well-being, and to defend the same
against acts or omissions detrimental to their development and preservation. In
view of the foregoing, the State needs to enhance further the efficacy of the law
against dangerous drugs, it being one of today's more serious social ill.
