BLACK DEATH

The Black Death was a pandemic that lasted from 1347 to 1353
and caused the deaths of 50 million people in Europe. The Black
Death was a pandemic of bubonic plague, a disease caused by
the bacteria Yersina pestis, which is found in rats.

Features of the Black Death

was an outbreak that consumed much of Europe during the fourteenth century,

is considered the first major global pandemic,

it was believed that transmission occurred through fleas (transmitted the


disease to humans) and rats (carried the bacteria),

the most common symptoms were: fever, vomiting and


change in the size of the ganglia,

the disease spread quickly.
