The display operating unit (ABE) is used to switch

electrical accessories on and off using buttons.
The integrated display shows information about
driving.
The ABE is located to the right of the driver s seat.

After it is switched on with the key switch, the

controller carries out the following procedures:
Configuration of the CAN bus
Enabling of CAN bus communication
Initialisation of the ABE
The display shows the animated welcome screen
until the procedures are complete.

The illustrations in this workshop manual corre-

spond to the ABE for electric forklift trucks. The
text refers to the two types of truck (electric forklift
truck and forklift truck with internal combustion
engine)

When a button is pressed, its function is effective

as soon as it is released.

174506 [EN] -1
By pressing the buttons (1) to (11), the corre-
sponding functions are carried out. The accom-
panying symbols for the activated functions are
shown inversely in the display.

The hazard warning button (6) (variant) is always

active, regardless of the operating status.
The soft keys (9) to (11) are available to assign
to any additional electrical installation function.
The symbol of the function of a soft key appears
directly above it in the display.
Bright symbols indicate the OFF state
Dark symbols indicate the ON state

The function of the buttons is dependent on the
truck equipment. The display (2) for the wind-
screen wiper/washer changes according to the
operating status by pressing the button (1).

For normal driving, the display shows information
in two standard displays with six lines each.
The first page of the standard display appears
in the display when all controllers are ready for
operation.
The content of the standard displays can be freely
parameterised with the specified functions based
on customer request.

change the soft key line:
press the "Menu change" button (1).
The grey bar jumps to the other soft key line.
The desired soft keys are now active and the

The functions of the two soft key lines depend on

the individual equipment of the truck. Therefore,
the soft keys on the displayoperating unit may
vary to those shown here.

To adapt to the current operating conditions,
there are up to five program steps available to the
driver.
It is possible to change the drive program at any
time when driving using the
button (1). The current drive program is indicated
in the display in the third line (2).
By pressing the button (1), the
drive programs are counted through in sequence
from 1 to 5.

Messages and error messages are managed

in the truck control unit and are displayed in the
ABE.

The display operating unit (ABE) is used to switch
electrical accessories on and off using buttons.
The integrated display shows information about
driving.
The ABE is located to the right of the steering
wheel.

After it is switched on with the key switch, the

controller carries out the following procedures:
Configuration of the CAN bus
Enabling of CAN bus communication
Initialisation of the ABE
The display shows the animated welcome screen
until the procedures are complete.

The illustrations in this workshop manual corre-

spond to the ABE for electric forklift trucks. The
text refers to the two types of truck (electric forklift
truck and forklift truck with internal combustion
engine)

When a button is pressed, its function is effective

as soon as it is released.

174506 [EN] -23

By pressing the buttons (1) to (11), the corre-
sponding functions are carried out. The accom-
panying symbols for the activated functions of the
additional electrical installations and the change-
able functions are shown inversely in the display.
Feedback about the activated additional electri-
cal installations is given via the LEDs next to the
corresponding button.

The hazard warning button (1) (variant) is always 1 Hazard warning system (always active)

operated. To change the soft key column:
press the "Menu change" button (1).
The grey bar jumps to the other soft key col-
umn. The desired soft keys are now active
and the functions assigned to them can be
switched on and off.

In order to shift between the individual menus

of the display operating unit, press the "Menu

The functions of the two soft key columns depend

on the individual equipment of the truck. There-
fore, the soft keys on your display operating unit
may vary to those shown here.

The adjusting speed remains constant.
Only the current position of a value is edited.
You do not jump to the next position in the
value when the minimum or maximum digit
(e.g. " 0" or "9") is reached.
Pressing the "Enter" button marks the next
lowest place as editable.
Entries are restricted to the specified mini-
mum and maximum values. The minimum and
maximum values are determined in the config-
uration menu.
At the lowest place, the total value is saved by
pressing the "Enter" button.

In a menu with several editable fields, the follo-

wing rules apply:
Pressing the "Enter" button at the lowest place
of a field marks the highest place of the next
field as editable.
Pressing the "Arrow left" button switches from
any position within a field to the highest place
of the previous field.
It is possible to change from the first field to the
last field.
Pressing the "Enter" button at the lowest place
of the last field saves the value and marks the
highest place of this field as editable.

ACCESS CODE
No connection to the FleetManager ; fully self-sufficient
function.
For further information, refer to the chapter entitled "ACCESS
CODE" and the truck operating instructions.

The function is a variant

of the ABE software. It enables code-protected
access to the truck s driving, hydraulic and addi-
tional functions.
All of the truck s functions that are switchable
via the ABE are blocked unless the access code
is entered. The hazard warning button remains
active as necessary.

The access code is preset at the factory to 11111.

This enables access to the truck s functions.
The codes are stored in the MCU/TCU, and are
copied over if the ABE is changed. Via the di-
agnostic device, the codes can be read out and
inserted back in over the initial values as neces-
sary
Entries and statuses, such as times of activation
or deactivation, and invalid entry attempts are not
recorded.
The function of the FleetManager PIN code can
be activated or deactivated at the factory via the
PARAMETERING menu on the ABE or using the
diagnostic device. The parameters are stored in
the MCU/TCU.

after the welcome screen. The five-digit access
code (00000...99999) can be entered using the
buttons to the left of the display. The button sym-
bols on the display assign the digits to the but-
tons. The digits entered are not visible. Each
digit is represented by a small circle.

174506 [EN] -45

After a valid access code has been entered, the
standard display 1 appears in the display.
If an invalid code is entered, a message is dis-
played. Once the message has disappeared
automatically, it is possible to enter the access
code again. An incorrect entry can only be cor-
rected by entering all of the five digits, waiting for
the message "INVALID" and then entering all of
the digits again.

After three invalid entry attempts, entry is blocked

for a certain period of time. The block is maintai-
ned even if the key switch is switched off and on
again. The blocking period is programmable with
a parameter. To override the block, up to fifty
different codes can be defined. The code word
can be determined for each code via a two-stage
menu that the fleet manager can access.

Via the menu "ACCESS CODE MAIN MENU" up

to fifty different codes can be defined to override
the block. The code word can be determined
for each code via a two-stage menu. It is only
possible to access the change menus at fleet
manager level.
After activation of the menu, the code to be
changed ("1") is displayed in the "CODE" selec-
tion field. The desired code ("1" to "50") can be
selected using the scroll buttons. By pressing
the "Enter button", the menu switches to the
submenu for entering the new code word.
The newly selected code word is entered again
in the "CONFIRM" menu. As the last digit is ente-
red, the new code word is copied into the system
and the "ACCESS CODE MAIN MENU" menu is
activated.
The messages "INVALID" and "CODE DENIED"
appear in the event of incorrect entry, as de-
scribed above.
