How to Be a Healthy Kid

by Mary Lam
I am a doctor. Every day, parents bring their children to my clinic with
different kinds of sickness. Parents are always worried that their children
are not healthy enough. 5

By simply following a few rules, children can stay fit and healthy.

1. Eat healthily
Junk food, soft drinks and too much meat are all bad for
our health. They have high levels of fat, salt and sugar.
Children should therefore consume less of them. Instead, 10
children should eat more fruit and vegetables. They should
also drink more water.

2. Exercise regularly
Exercise keeps children physically fit. It is good for
different parts of the body, especially the heart. Children 15
should exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. Exercise is
good for your health, as long as you do it regularly and do
not do too much.

3. Get enough rest

Children have a lot of activities to do every day. These 20
activities are important. However, it is equally important
for children to get enough rest. They should get at least
9 hours of sleep every day.

2. with a lot of something
‘Oranges contain high amounts of Vitamin C’

‘He holds a high position in the government.’
4. very good
‘The quality of service at the restaurant is very high.’

 A. 1  B. 2
 C. 3  D. 4

4. To have healthy eating habits, what should children NOT do?

 A. Drink more water.

People are asking where you've been
They say "have courage", and I'm trying to
I'm right out here for you, just let me in
We only have each other
It's just you and me
What are we going to do?

Do you want to build a Snowman?

Waiter, Waiter!
A man and his wife went to a restaurant. When the waiter came, they ordered.
The man said, ‘This restaurant has the best soup in the world. I want one.’

Three minutes later, the waiter brought the man a big bowl of soup. The man
looked at his soup and couldn’t believe what he saw: a big, black fly! ‘Waiter!’ yelled
the man. ‘There’s a fly in my soup!’

‘Please calm down, sir,’ said the waiter. ‘Otherwise, everyone will want a fly,
too.’

The man and his wife were very mad so they decided to go somewhere else.
They drove to a different restaurant. ‘This time,’ said the man. ‘I guess I’ll have a
steak.’

When the waiter brought the man’s steak, the man couldn’t believe his eyes. On
his plate, he saw a big, green caterpillar! ‘Waiter,’ shouted the man. ‘There’s a
caterpillar on my steak!’

The waiter smiled at the man. ‘Don’t worry, sir,’ he said. ‘It’s free of charge.’

Animal Stars - Chinese Zodiac
A long time ago, the Jade Emperor wanted to find a way to measure time. He
told all animals that there would be a swimming race. The first twelve animals to
cross the river would each have a year of the Chinese zodiac named after them.

The rat and the cat were not good swimmers so they asked the ox to carry them
across the river. The ox agreed. When the three animals got near the finishing line,
the rat pushed the cat into the river and jumped past the line. The rat won the race
and the ox came second.

The tiger came third. Next was the rabbit that crossed the river using stepping
stones. The dragon got the fifth place, followed by the snake, the horse, the goat, the
monkey and the rooster.

The eleventh animal was the dog because he was bathing in the river. The last
place belonged to the boar because he was lazy and tired. Then the wet cat arrived
finally. However, it was too late. That’s why cats and rats are still enemies up until
now.
