Uniflair™ FWCV0100AS General Information

Compliance
These units are intended for installation in a non-public location with restricted
access, and with installation, use, and maintenance performed by qualified
personnel.

Mains Disconnecting Device

• Appliance provided with no accessible mains disconnecting device (internal)
to be used to remove the mains supply during maintenance operations
carried out exclusively by trained and qualified technical personnel
• Installation of the appliance on raised plenum and disconnecting device not
accessible (height of operating means greater than 1.9 m (74.8 in.) from
servicing level)
In these cases, it is absolutely necessary to install a mains disconnecting device
on the stationary fixed wiring located near the appliance to handle the safety
shutdown and disconnection of the power supply. The disconnecting device shall
be one of the following types:
• Switch-disconnector, with or without fuses that are in accordance with IEC
60947-3, utilization category AC-23B or DC-23B
• Control and protective switching device suitable for isolation that is in
accordance with IEC 60947-6-2
• A circuit-breaker suitable for isolation that is in accordance with IEC 60947-2
The installed mains power disconnect must do the following:
• Isolate the electrical equipment from the supply and have one OFF and one
ON position marked with “O” and “I”
• Be provided with a means for locking the device in the OFF (isolated) position
(e.g., with padlocks).
• Have a breaking capacity sufficient to interrupt the rated current (see rated
parameter on the unit name plate or Technical Specifications)
• Be easily accessible and located between 0.6 m (2 ft) and 1.9 m (6 ft) above
where the service personnel stands to service the unit
After unit installation, it is necessary to evaluate the fault-loop impedance and
automatic protection coordination.

Drainage Connections
NOTE: The installation of chilled water units must comply with
local plumbing codes.

Connecting the Rigid Drainage Tubing

The drainage tubing may be mounted on one side or the other. Depending on the unit configuration on site,
on the right side of the upper condensate drain pan, mount a rigid condensate drain pipe, placing it along
the lower coil: this pipe will drain on the lower condensate drain pan. The lower condensate drain pipe may
be mounted on the left or on the right side of the unit.22

NOTE: Model FWCV0100AS is shown. Some components are not shown for easier viewing.

CONDENSATE DRAIN
OPTIONAL: RIGHT SIDE OR LEFT SIDE

Installation Uniflair™ FWCV0100AS
Connecting to Building Gravity Drains

1. Connect the unit drainage tube to the building drains using a rubber or
plastic tube with a 25-mm (0.98-in.) internal diameter.
2. Use a trap on the external drainage tube in order to avoid unpleasant odors
and to allow the condensate pan to drain properly. Consult local building
codes for drain requirements.
3. Once the connections have been made, pour water into the condensate
drain until the trap inside the unit is full.

Chilled-Water Piping Connections

NOTE: Draining the unit is recommended after prolonged activity.

Follow these guidelines for all water connections (except for the condensate
drain):
Mount the piping structure by inserting the DN65 pipes for customer connections
into the designated holes located on top of the upper module and connect them
to the upper module water pipes using both Ø76.1 mm fixing collars: tighten them
using the integrated screws.
In order to link the water piping of both modules, connect the connection pipes to
the bottom of the upper module water pipes, using both Ø60.3 mm fixing collars:
tighten them using integrated screws.
Use shutoff valves (not supplied) to isolate the unit from the water circuit. If
possible, use full-port ball valves to minimize the pressure drop.
Check that the water pipe sizes and the circulating pump quality are adequate;
insufficient water flow affects unit performance.
Check that the water flow directions are verified and connected properly between
the unit and building.

NOTE: Ensure that all pipes are free of debris and assure all stem strainers
are in place and oriented in the correct direction.

Insulate all water pipes with closed-cell insulating material (e.g., Armaflex™ or
equivalent), avoiding air gaps and condensation. The insulation must allow
accessibility to the valves.
Check that the water circuits are supplied with a maximum water pressure of 1600
kPa (232 psi). Install a safety valve with a setpoint lower than 1600 kPa (232 psi).
Insulate the gaps between the top panel of the fan module and inlet/outlet piping.

Filling the Chilled-Water Circuit

CAUTION
CHILLED WATER CIRCUIT REQUIREMENT
Filling the chilled water circuit must be done by qualified personnel.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in injury or equipment
damage.

1. Clean the primary circuits before filling the units (a 20-mesh particulate
strainer should be installed in the supply water piping within close proximity to
the unit).
2. Check that all unit bleed valves are closed.
3. Open the isolation valves (field installed).
4. Open the bleed valve and wait for the water to discharge.
5. Close the valve after all air is removed.
6. Repeat step 4 and step 5, if necessary, to remove all air.

Filling the Hydraulic Circuit

NOTE: If the inlet water temperature is lower than 5°C (41°F), glycol needs to
be added to the water. The maximum amount of glycol allowed by volume is
50%. Note that glycol in the water causes an increase in pressure drops in the
hydraulic circuit.
NOTE: Filling the hydraulic circuit must be performed by qualified personnel.
1. The primary circuits must be equipped with mechanical filters.
2. Check that all of the shut off valves are closed.
3. Open the drain valve of the primary circuit and regulate the pressure switch to 5
bar.
4. Bleed the air from the circuits.

See Internal Components, for air bleed valve locations.

5. Turn on the primary circulation pumps.

6. Clean the circuits while leaving the pumps on.
7. Check for any loss from the primary circuits.

DANGER
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH
Apply appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe
electrical work practices.
This equipment must be installed and serviced by qualified personnel only.
Turn off all power supplying this equipment before working on or inside the
equipment.
Replace all devices, doors, and covers before turning on power to this
equipment.
Always use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm power is off.
If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by an equivalent
cord or assembly available from the manufacturer or its service agent.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.

ELECTRICAL HAZARD
• Electrical service must conform to local and national electrical codes and
regulations.
• The equipment must be grounded.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or
equipment damage.

ELECTRICAL HAZARD
Ensure that all electrical connections are unplugged before you introduce water
into the unit.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or
equipment damage.

SHARP EDGES
When using power tools be sure to read and follow the rules that come with that
tool.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or
equipment damage.

NOTICE
HAZARD FROM SHARP EDGES
Edges of the knock-out panel may be sharp.
Use a grommet, bushing, or other protective covering for the section of
power cable routed through the knock-out panel.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
