Background of the Study

The research topic was inspired from one of the student in Legazpi City National

Highschool in General Academic Strand who introduced the topic of working mother and non-working

father . The researchers think and remembered about the Filipino family culture and also about the issue

of Gender roles. According to Heppner and Heppner (as cited in Fischer & Anderson,2012) The Filipino

mothers are given the title of “Ilaw ng tahanan” meaning “light of the house” to recognize the warmth

and guidance that mother bring to the family. And the father is the provider and protector of the family.

We have the issue of Gender Roles where women and men are challenging the stereotypical gender

roles and are participating in non-traditional roles of employed mother and caregiving fathers.

Statement of the Problem

1.What is the demographic profile of the respondent? In terms of:

a.Age

b.Gender

2.How does the situation affects the Academic Performance of the student?

3.How does the student face the situation of having a Working mother and Non Working Father?
Scope and Delimitation

This qualitative study utilized by the student having a Working mother and non-working father.

The reseachers will gather information and present important data from the study.This study will be

conducted in Legazpi City National Highschool.

Significance of the study

The main objective of this research is to contribute to body of knowledge on the chosen topic

and provide valuable insights for the both respondent and researchers. The results of this study is

useful and valuable to the following:

Student.

Parents.

Future researcher. This will provide inputs and serves as a reference materials for research or related

study.
