WHAT FIRST TECH
CHALLENGE MEANS FOR US
FIRST Tech Challenge is more than just a robotics competition. It’s a transformative
experience that has a profound emotional impact on students.

For many students, FIRST Tech Challenge is the spark that ignites their passion for
science, technology, engineering, and math. It’s a place where they can explore their
creativity and develop their problem-solving skills. But it’s not just about the technical
skills they learn; it’s about the personal growth they experience.

In FIRST Tech Challenge, students learn to work collaboratively, communicate

effectively, and think critically. They learn to overcome obstacles, persevere through
setbacks, and celebrate their successes. They learn to be gracious and professional in
both victory and defeat. And they learn to push themselves to be their best, not just for
themselves but for their team.

The impact of FIRST Tech Challenge on students is undeniable. It’s a place where they
can find belonging, support, and encouragement. It’s a place where they can discover
their strengths and overcome their weaknesses. It’s a place where they can build
friendships and create lifelong memories.

For many students, FIRST Tech Challenge is a turning point in their lives. It’s where they
discover their purpose and their passion. It’s where they find a community that supports
and challenges them. And it’s where they begin to see themselves as agents of change,
capable of making a difference in the world.

In short, FIRST Tech Challenge is an emotional journey that empowers students to

become the best version of themselves. It’s a place where they can dream big, work hard,
and change the world.

THE ROMANIAN FTC
EXPERIENCE
Four years ago, we started participating in the SkyStone season competition and quickly
became enamored with it. As the pandemic forced the competitions to go remote, we
grew fond of the themes put forward by FIRST, and although we couldn’t interact with
other teams, we continued to learn from them and admired their exceptional robots.

However, our greatest joy was finally being able to meet the creators behind those
amazing robots in person this year, as pandemic restrictions were lifted. We participated
in as many scrimmages as possible, which allowed us to see other robots in real life, not
just on a screen. This gave us an opportunity to form valuable connections and learn
from more experienced individuals.

Participating in Romanian FTC competitions was a completely unique experience for

us. We put forth our best efforts to encourage and support other teams, and when they
emerged victorious, it felt like our own win.

This season was notably different right from the start, as we were more organized and
had a clearer understanding of our goals and how to achieve them. We took on the role
of mentors to three teams, sharing our passion for robotics with 50 children between
the ages of 9 and 14. They excelled in competitions, winning the programming and
innovation awards.

In conclusion, the journey of the team in the SkyStone season competition has been
an incredible one. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the team remained
determined and continued to learn and grow from other teams, even when they
couldn’t interact with them in person. The lifting of pandemic restrictions brought
the opportunity to meet other creators behind exceptional robots, forming valuable
connections and learning from experienced individuals.
