II. Solve the problem by applying the Polya's Problem Solving Technique.
The sum of two numbers is 24. One is 6 less than twice the other. Find the two numbers.
Solutions:
Step 1: Understand the problem. Two numbers when combined will become 24. One number is
6 less than twice than the other number.
Step 2: Devise a plan to solve the problem. Make a list of combinations that the sum is 24.
Step 3: Carry out the plan.
21 + 3 = 24
19 + 5 = 24
14 + 10 = 24
Step 4: Check your answer.
10 * 2 = 20; 20 – 6 = 14; 14 + 10 = 24
Answers:
