Basis on my understanding, the article is about the study of the different meanings of things
there is in life, and I agree with their studies about the meanings of meaningfulness of life. I believe that
one’s person’s meaningfulness in life is influence by both external and internal forces, such as our
thinking and the things we do. The meaning of life is necessary to basis to human life (Frankl, 1963).
Living life with meaning allows us to have a legacy, whether through our work or to the love we share to
others.

Who among us hasn't ever wondered if his or her life is meaningful? At some point in our lives
we wondered about the meaning of our lives.  Steger, Frazier, Oishi, and Kaler (2006) suggest that
meaning consists of two separate dimensions: coherence and purpose. Coherence refers to how we
understand our life, whereas purpose relates to the goals that we have for our life. I believe these two
dimensions that they suggest enables us to grasp or understand some aspects of our attitudes towards
others and towards ourselves, just like good habits aren’t necessarily corresponds to meaningful ones
and morally good lives like with meaningful ones might also seem pointless, so our meaningfulness in
life is again influenced both by our external and internal forces.

For those who feel purposeless, Landau, 2017 suggests, “A meaningful life is one in which there
is a sufficient number of aspects of sufficient value, and a meaningless life is one in which there is not a
sufficient number of aspects of sufficient value.” In this statement, he is essentially expressing and
asserting that meaning is similar to an equation, that you may add up or subtract component to obtain
more or less meaning in life. So assuming that I am feeling aimless with the field that I am pursuing as I
would like it to be, in order for me to have a meaningfulness life, I tend to pursue other things such as
volunteering work and travel or even pursue other fields until I can add something that can give me
meaning, and yet it is also possible that the things that I am already doing are meaningful, but I am
undervaluing them because I am only focusing on one factor that I think is the only thing that can give
me meaning, which is the field that I am currently pursuing.

In conclusion, what we have and what we do have different evaluation for our life’s
meaningfulness. Other things we do can give us meaning and other things don’t and for life to be
meaningful and valuable, it need not to be unique, we just need to be happy and contented with what
we do. So, I agree with all the studies about MOL and that we can never truly comprehend the true
meaning of the meaningfulness of life. I will end with a quote that I saw while scrolling and reading
about life’s meaning, “We change, we grow, our beliefs and values will transform and so does our sense
of purpose and meaning, which we must continually work on”, because this is truly the one that can
gives us a meaning of the meaningfulness of life, to live in here and now and be happy and contented of
what we have.

“For the meaning of life differs from man to man, from day to day and from hour to hour. What matters,
therefore, is not the meaning of life in general but rather the specific meaning of a person’s life at a
given moment.” - Viktor E. Frankl
