MIDTERM PLATE 1:
1. Use the moment-area method to determine the slopes at ends A and D and the deflections at points B and C of the
beam shown in the figure below. Use a) Double Integration Method, b) Area-Moment Method, and c) Conjugate
Beam Method.

2. Determine the slope and deflection at point B in the cantilever beam shown below. Use a) Area-Moment Method and
b) Conjugate Beam Method. Express your answer in terms of EI.

3. For the beam loaded as shown, locate the maximum deflection relative to the right support. Find also the magnitude of
the maximum deflection using a) Double Integration Method, b) Area-Moment Method, and c) Conjugate Beam
Method.
