1) Happiness: After the Storm- Kali Uchis

The song After the storm represents happiness for me, mostly because of its cheerful and
reassuring lyrics. For example, in the lyric “The sun will come out, but we’ve been struggling
endlessly, someday well find the love cause after the storm’s when the flowers bloom” Kali talks
about overcoming hardship (the storm), finding peace in the end (flowers blooming) and the effort
one must put in to achieve this. Certain instruments like the tambourine and womp bass give the
song drive and a euphoric and retro feel.

2) Sadness: Heart to heart- Mac Demarco

This song represents sadness for me because of the chord progression and distortion effects Mac
added. The bassline and guitar part have a lot of back-to-back minor and suspended chords that
tend to make people feel uncomfortable or eerie. This pairs up with the sad lyrics nicely to invoke
feelings of sadness and loneliness. In the song, Mac talks about being with and apart from a loved
one and how parallel people’s lives tend to get when they are in an intimate relationship. The chorus
is meant to represent the emotional connection or lack thereof when someone is with or without
their significant other.

3) Fear: Iron Man- Black Sabbath

I chose this song for fear mainly because of its aggressive guitar, vocals, and drumming. The
distorted guitar bends in the beginning give me an uncomfortable and unearthly

4) Surprise: Touch the Sky- KanYe West

The main reason I chose this song to represent surprise is the way I felt when I first heard it on
the album.

5) Disgust: Psycho Killer- Talking heads

6) Anger: On That Time- PLAYBOY CARTI
