ABSTRACT

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used in crime detection and prevention. The
ability of AI algorithms to analyze vast amounts of data and identify patterns makes it a valuable
tool for law enforcement agencies.

In crime detection, AI is used to analyze various forms of data such as surveillance footage,
social media posts, and phone records to identify potential suspects and predict criminal activity.
For example, AI algorithms can be trained to recognize faces in surveillance footage and
compare them to databases of known criminals.

AI can also be used to identify potential crime hotspots based on patterns of past criminal
activity. This information can be used to deploy law enforcement resources more effectively and
prevent crime from occurring in the first place.

In addition to crime detection, AI can also be used in the investigation of crimes. For example,
AI algorithms can analyze data from crime scenes to identify potential suspects and evidence.

However, the use of AI in crime detection is not without its challenges. There are concerns
around privacy and the potential for biases in AI algorithms. It is therefore important to ensure
that the use of AI in crime detection is done ethically and transparently. Additionally, it is
important to recognize the limitations of AI and not rely solely on AI algorithms in the criminal
justice system.
