Studying
Introduction
Various studies have shown many students study the day before a major exam due to
procrastination, which causes them to fail and become discouraged with themselves. The information that
the student learned was not kept in their memory because it is almost impossible to cram so much
information into the brain and force it to be processed into long-term memory. Motivation to study is a
reason many students find studying to be so hard and end up procrastinating. Studying the notes and
information related to the subject for a few minutes every day leading up to the exam is important. Studying
in various places might help or be ineffective depending on where the student studies. The library, cafes, and
at home are popular places for studying or doing homework but can often be too boring, loud, or distracting.
Various studies have found that alternating the room in which a student studies can improve their retention
of whatever they may be learning, whether it be a new language or a new topic. The study also found that
focusing on diverse but related abilities or topics in one session, rather than concentrating hard on a single
issue, is also effective. Studying in various places will ultimately improve retention, productivity, and lower
levels of stress.
Methodology
The data gathered was from an Early College High School student throughout a 7-day
period. The participant will be studying every day after school and during school. Because the
participant did not study in previous exams, the grades from those tests will be compared to the

grades from the upcoming tests. It is important to note that the participant slept between 11 P.M.
and 12 P.M. so that lack of sleep was not a factor in the outcome of the grades. The participant
will be studying for their Anatomy, Government, and History exams. The first two days
(Saturday and Sunday) focused mainly on Government and Anatomy because those exams were
first, Government would be on Thursday and Anatomy on Friday. For these exams, the
participant will study in the library or at home and alternate between these. For History, the
participant will study in the same room as their class. The next two days (Monday and Tuesday)
focused on History and Anatomy, the following days (Wednesday and Thursday) on
Government and Anatomy, and lastly on Friday, the final day of the experiment, was mainly on
History. During the weekend, the participant was able to study from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. at their Commented [Au1]: honestly this part kind of

On the days leading up to the exam, the participant recalled information from the
previous days much more effectively than when they did not study at all the previous week.
