Most vineyards of Austria locate in the east and north of the country, the west is covered by the Alps. It is a
cool continental climate with harsh winters and hot short summers. Northern vineyards experience cool
northerly winds which help the grapes maintain fresh fruits flavors and high acidity.
Vinevards in the east get much warmer air, especially some are close to Neusiedlersee lake, thus producing
fuller-bodied, more concentrated wines with stone fruits characters. When conditions are right, botrytised
wines will be produced.
