Advantages of each one of these, and which one will be the right one for your procedure.

3.Disadvantages and risks of each implant.

Process
After following each of these steps, you will have enough information to make a decision. With us,
you will be able to continue throughout the process, since we have the tools and contacts to take
you to the best professionals.

FDA approved implants, duration, care.

1.1. Saline Breast Prosthesis

The saline breast prosthesis is simply a breast prosthesis consisting of a bag covered with one or
more layers of elastic silicone with a smooth finish filled with physiological solution or, in other
words, with a mixture of water and salt in a concentration similar to that of the human body.

These implants are placed deflated inside the breast, so they require a much smaller incision,
proceeding to its filling through a valve, once introduced, with the indicated amount of saline to
achieve the aesthetic effect that each patient desires.[1] 1.2.

1.2. Silicone breast implants

Silicone implants are filled with a silicone gel. Most people believe that silicone breast implants
look and feel like natural breasts.

Silicone breast implants are available for people over the age of 22 who want breast augmentation
and for people of any age who need breast reconstruction.[2] Silicone breast implants are also
available for people who need breast reconstruction.

1.3 Duration.

Breast implants are not lifetime devices: The longer you have breast implants, the greater the
chance that you will develop complications, some of which will require more surgery.

The lifespan of breast implants varies from person to person and cannot be predicted. That means
that everyone with breast implants may need additional surgeries, but no one can predict when.
Patients may also request additional surgeries to change the size or shape of their breasts.

1.4 Why is it done?

-To improve your appearance if you feel that your breasts are small or that one breast is smaller
than the other, and this affects the way you dress or the type of bra you need to improve the
asymmetry.

-Adjust to reduce breast size after pregnancy or significant weight loss.

-Correct uneven breasts after breast surgery for other conditions.

Improving self-confidence

-After breast cancer surgery, for reconstructive purposes.

Advantages of each of these, and which one will be right for your process.

2.1 Advantages of the saline prosthesis

-Lower cost.

-Saline is harmless and reabsorbable by the body in case of leakage, being a mixture of water and
salt in a concentration similar to that of the human body.

-They have a natural effect and can be used by women of all ages.

-They are very easy to introduce into the breasts, the incision to be made is minimal.

-You can choose the volume you want to give to the prosthesis, so they are also ideal for women
who have breast asymmetry.

-The weight and volume of the saline filling is less than that of the silicone filling.

This lower density prevents "breast sagging" in women with very thin skin.

-It does not require a follow-up as punctual as silicone implants, since the patient would
immediately detect a leak or breakage of the prosthesis when losing volumen in the breast.

-It is easy to exchange one prosthesis for another: the prosthesis only has to be emptied and the
bag removed.

-It allows breastfeeding.

-These prostheses allow the realization of breast studies (ultrasound, mammography...).

2.2 Advantages of silicone implants

-They keep their shape for a longer time:

-They are less prone to bending or rippling.

-They are less prone to leakage.

-They offer a more natural look

They can reduce the risk of capsular contracture: It is normal for internal scar tissue to form
around breast implants - after all, they are foreign objects to the body. However, problems arise
when this soft scar tissue hardens.

Known as capsular contracture, this hardened, tight capsule around the implant is the most
common problem in both cosmetic breast augmentation and breast reconstruction. Due to the
composition, capsular contracture is less likely.[3]

3. Disadvantages and risks of each implant

-Additional surgeries

-Anaplastic large cell lymphoma associated with breast implants, which is a cancer of the immune
system.

-Systemic symptoms, commonly referred to as Breast Implant Illness (BII)

-Capsular contracture (scar tissue that squeezes the implant)

-Breast pain

Rupture (tears or holes in the shell) of saline-filled and silicone gel-filled implants - Rupture (tears
or holes in the shell) of saline-filled and silicone gel-filled implants

Deflation (with visible change in the size of the breasts) of the implants filled with saline solution

Silent rupture (no symptoms) of silicone gel-filled implants

-Infection [4].

4.Process

4.1 The First Breast Augmentation Consultation

At the first consultation, you will be able to learn first-hand the details of the procedure.
Afterwards, the Doctor will take a series of measurements of your chest and breast, to delimit the
possibilities of your specific case and will recommend a range of volume and implant shape.

After this, the simulation will be performed: By means of testers (padded bras) you will be able to
see an approximation of the volume and shape that each prosthesis will give you, in order to
choose the one that best suits you.

Afterwards, by taking some photos, you will be able to see yourself in a 3D simulator, with your
own body, and compare how each prosthesis would look on you.

Remember that beauty is subjective, and two patients with the same measurements can look for
very different results and sizes, so the simulation is essential, since you will even see yourself with
your own clothes in the case of fitting rooms, and a 3D model of your body in the case of 3D
simulation.

4.2 Choosing the type of breast implant:

Choosing the type of implant (shape and volume) should be a meeting process between the
surgeon and the patient. Chosen by you

Dr. Aso will make a personalized recommendation according to your tastes and measurements,
but always within a range of volumes of naturalness and safety.

We never place excessive volumes, which may produce a bad result in the short or long term or
endanger the health of our patients.

4.3 Breast implant placement for breast augmentation

There are three possible approaches (scars) after breast augmentation. The most commonly used,
due to its excellent aesthetic results and safety, is the submammary approach (in the sulcus below
the breast). Over time, this small scar (3-4cm) is confused with the wrinkle of the sulcus. Other
possible approaches depending on the characteristics of the patient are the areolar (by the lower
outer margin of the areola) or axillary (by the armpit).

4.4 Breast augmentation postoperative period

It is expected to have some discomfort or pain (mild in most cases) in the first 2-5 days after
surgery. In most cases, you can return to work after 3-5 days.

The discomfort may be somewhat greater during the first days, but the better aesthetic result and
better behavior of the prosthesis in the long term justifies this small effort.

In the first weeks, the shape and size of the implants will not be definitive. Little by little the
implant will distend the skin and the result will become more natural and proportionate. Generally
after 3 months the aspect is usually very good.[3].
