Project Title: A qualitative exploration of friendship development in early adolescence

1. What was the purpose of the project?


This study is looking at the way that people develop friendships during adolescence. The
interview methodology that we used means we are able to gauge a greater understanding of
your views on the topic. We hope to gain a more detailed understanding of how friendships
develop over time, in different contexts, particularly in adolescence.

2. How will I find out about the results?

4. If I change my mind and wish to withdraw the information I have provided, how do I
do this?
Please email the researcher within two weeks of participation and we will delete all your data.
After this time it may not be possible to withdraw your data as it will have been analysed and
written up in a report for the module assessment.

If you have any concerns or worries concerning this research or if you wish to register a
complaint, please direct it to the Department of Psychology Ethics Chair (Postgraduate)

Information and data gathered during this research study will only be available to the research
team identified in the information sheet, and the Ethics Chair. When written up, all data will
be anonymous (i.e. your personal information or data will not be identifiable).

All information and data gathered during this research will be stored in line with the Data
Protection Act and will be destroyed 3 months following the conclusion of the study.
This study and its protocol have received full ethical approval from the Department of
Psychology Ethics Committee in accordance with the School of Health and Life Sciences
