LIMITED 2.0 3.0 Report of Pite Integrity Teat 7" ee | eS | 1 INTRODUCTION In accordance with your instruction, we have carried aut Pile Integrity tests (PJL-T.) on the Piles at the site of the proposed Visafone building located at Jabi, Abuja, FCT, This report presents the result of that P.I.T conducted ‘on some of the bored piles on the project site as shown on attached copy. ‘The test basically involves inducing a stress wave in the pile by introducing an impact on the pile top with a small hammer and measuring the resulting pile top motion with an accelerometer attached ta the exposed pile top, FIELDWORKS AND PILE IDENTIFICATION ‘Testing af these piles commenced on the 18" December 2011 and concluded the on the same day. All the Piles were more than 14-days old before the commencement of the test. Wentification of all the test piles was done under the supervision and guidaice of site agents from Bond Consulting Limited and Geo-Vision Limited as confirmed by these personnel, the piles are of uniform diameter of @450mm. Each pile was tested at least twice at different positions on the already cleaned pile top in other to achieve more reliable results by taking average of the obtained data. INSTRUMENTATION ‘The equipment for testing included a Pl, Collector manufactured by Pile Dynamies Inc. and a hand-held hammer ranging from 2N to 27N. The Collector averages, analyses and stores the records. This is clearly shown in the velocity records indicating that piles tested do not posses any defective reflection. In addi none of the tested piles exhibits necking or reduction in shaft diameter or surrounding soil intrusion along the pile shaft rather there are indications of enlargement at the top andl base of the ples. All the above observations prove thatthe structural integrity of the piles is adequate. The slight positive reffections shown on the velocity curves immediately after initial impact are as @ result of velocity signals returning to the nominal ross section from negative reflections, ‘There was a good hammer rebound at the top of the test piles showing that they exhibit Positive reflection from the initial impact and also indicate good quality conerete In conclusion, the piles are confirmed adequate for continuation of the civil works.
