To consider
You can use “if” and “unless”, but their meanings are different.
Unless is used to state a negative condition.
(Unless you are superstitious, you won’t be afraid of black cats)
Use a comma after the if clause.
You can replace “if” with “when” especially when talking about
general truths.
(When you heat ice cubes, they melt)
