Summary
This bulletin contains the relevant worksteps with the help of WDS/IDS if either one of the
following modules must be renewed:

• Instrument cluster (IC)

• Generic Electronic Module (GEM) or Central Junction Box (CEM)

• Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

• Other modules from the central module configuration connected via the CAN bus
network

Under no circumstances should these worksteps be performed if both the IC and GEM/CEM
require replacement.
The main screenshots (in Englisch language only) for the following application have been
published within TSB 57/2006.
Additional information for stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs):
If the following DTC is displayed, DO NOT use Generic Electronic Module (GEM) or Central
Junction Box (CEM) - Renew procedure:

• B1A84 51 - Not Programmed

To rectify this concern obtain As-built data and then re-start the procedure.
If the following DTCs are displyed, DO NOT use Instrument Cluster (IC) - Renew procedure:

• U2100 00 - Initial Configuration Not Complete


• B1A84 51 - Not Programmed

To rectify this concern obtain As-built data and then re-start the procedure.
Additional information when IDS 46 DVD (2006.11) is used:
At time there are problems programming the PCM on vehicles with 2.0L Duratorq-TDCi engine

and DPF. The required calibration is only available on the yellow special WDS CD B 45
(complete for delivery). Furthermore the IDS 46 DVD (2006.11) comprises a software bug -
Message: Navigation installed YES/NO

• NO should only be chosen if Module Configuration/CCC is to be carried out on all


other systems excluding navigation system with touchscreen/Blaupunkt audio
system.
• YES should be choosen for diagnosing/configuring the navigation system with
touchscreen/Blaupunkt audio system.

This issue has been rectified on IDS 47 DVD.


Service Instruction
Instrument cluster (IC) - Renew

1. Connect the WDS/IDS portable diagnostic unit


to the vehicle and establish communication
(VID the vehicle).

z Confirm the vehicle details are correct.


2. Select the <Toolbox> tab at the top of the
screen.
3. Select <Module Programming>.

z Press the tick.


4. Select <Programmable Parameters> and then
<Car Configuration Parameter(s)>.

z Press the tick.


5. Confirm that VIN is correct to VIN Plate.
6. The <Vehicle Configuration> screen appears.

z Press on Plus sign (+).


7. Select <Upload the vehicle configuration file>.

z Press the tick.


8. Follow the further instructions from WDS/IDS
about switching the ignition OFF and ON and
confirm.
9. The vehicle configuration data will now be
uploaded and stored on the Service Tool. Once
this is completed press the tick.
10. Install the new IC. For additional information,
refer to Transit 2006.5; S-MAX/Galaxy 2006.5
Workshop Manual Section 413-01.
11. On the <Vehicle Configuration> screen select
<Modify the vehicle configuration file>.

z Press the tick.


12. NOTE:Do NOT modify the current settings.
The <Modify the Parameter Display> screen
with a configuration list of the vehicle appears.

z Press the tick.

the <Vehicle Configuration> screen.


On the message >Do you wish to download the
vehicle configuration file?> select the tick. This
will download the configuration data to the
vehicle.

z The Central Car Configuration (CCC) data will


now be written to the IC and the GEM/CEM.
Follow the further instructions from WDS/IDS
and confirm.

14. On the <Download Complete> screen, press


the tick to return to the >Vehicle
Configuration> screen.

z Select the <Return> icon to exit the


application.

15. Check for any stored Diagnostic trouble codes


(DTCs).
16. Clear any stored DTCs and disconnect
WDS/IDS from the vehicle.

z From the Toolbox top tab select 'Self Test'


then the 'ALL CMDTCs' option.

• NOTE:If the following procedure is not


followed the IC will display <Power
Steering Malfunction>.
z Once the self test has been completed, the
Electronic Hydraulic Power Assisted Steering
(EHPAS) needs to acknowledge input from
Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) module. Make
sure that no gear is engaged, start the engine
and rotate the steering wheel to the left (40
degrees), return the steering wheel to the
centre and then rotate the steering wheel to
the right (40 degrees), again return the
steering wheel to the centre. Once this action
has been completed, switch ignition OFF and
ON and select the clear DTCs icon.
Generic Electronic Module (GEM) or Central Junction Box (CEM) - Renew

1. Install the new GEM/CEM. For additional


information, refer to Transit 2006.5; S-
MAX/Galaxy 2006.5 Workshop Manual Section
419-10.
2. Connect the WDS/IDS portable diagnostic unit
to the vehicle and establish communication
(VID the vehicle).

z Confirm the vehicle details are correct.


3. Select the <Toolbox> tab at the top of the
screen.

4. Select <Module Programming>.

z Press the tick.


5. Select <Programmable Parameters> and then
<Car Configuration Parameter(s)>.

z Press the tick.


6. Confirm that VIN is correct to VIN Plate.
7. On the <Vehicle Configuration> screen select
<Program new GEM/CEM (BCMii) with CCC
data from IC>.

z Press the tick.


8. Follow the further instructions from WDS/IDS
about switching the ignition OFF and ON and
confirm.
9. The Central Car Configuration (CCC) data will
now be written to the IC and the GEM/CEM.
Follow the further instructions from WDS/IDS
and confirm.
10. On the <Download Complete> screen, press
the tick to return to the >Vehicle
Configuration> screen.

z Select the <Return> icon to exit the


application.

11. Check for any stored Diagnostic trouble codes


(DTCs).
12. Clear any stored DTCs and disconnect
WDS/IDS from the vehicle.

z From the Toolbox top tab select 'Self Test'

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) - Renew

1. Connect the WDS/IDS portable diagnostic unit


to the vehicle and establish communication
(VID the vehicle).

z If the automatic indentification fails for Transit


2006.5 with diesel engine, enter the -
12K532- Calibration Part Number stamped
on the sticker on the B-pillar into the Part
Number fields.

z If the automatic indentifcation fails for Transit


2006.5 with petrol engine and S-MAX/Galaxy
2006.5 with diesel engine, enter the -
12A650- PCM Part Number stamped on the
PCM into the Part Number fields.

z If the automatic indentification is possible


verify the VIN number and select <YES>. If
manual identification is nessessary, manually
enter the VIN number. Press the tick.
2. Confirm the vehicle details are correct.
3. Follow the further instructions from WDS/IDS
about switching the ignition OFF and ON and
confirm.
4. Select the <Toolbox> tab at the top of the
screen.
5. Select <Module Programming>.

z Press the tick.


6. Select <Programmable Module Installation>
and then <PCM>.

z Press the tick.


7. NOTE:There may be periods of seeming
inactivity while the unit carries out critical
operations. Make sure to follow the on-screen
instructions fully.
Follow the further instructions from WDS/IDS
about switching the ignition OFF and ON and
confirm. Install the new PCM when instructed
to do so and follow the further instructions

Renew

1. Connect the WDS/IDS portable diagnostic unit


to the vehicle and establish communication
(VID the vehicle).

z Confirm the vehicle details are correct.


2. Select the <Toolbox> tab at the top of the
screen.
3. Select <Module Programming>.

z Press the tick.

z Select the module of interest and press the


tick.

z Follow the further instructions from WDS/IDS


about switching the ignition OFF and ON and
confirm. Install the new module when
instructed to do so and follow the further
instructions from WDS/IDS.

z Complete <Module Self Test>.
