Abstract
Diaspora is the movement of a group of people, to new lands, for settlement. People
experience some disputes dealing with their identity in new regions which is evident in many,
including the Indian immigrants. Jhumpa Lahiri is one of the famous Indian American
authors, much-admired for portraying the Bengali immigrant experience. Lahiri’s works
manifest the notion of being uprooted from homeland and also put emphasize on the quest for
blending in the host country. The present paper intends to explore the novel ' The Lowland'
by Lahiri, by reflecting upon the diasporic dilemmas and conflicts.
