The document describes a dialogue between several friends discussing whether a college degree is important. They discuss their varying experiences, with some finding the degree important for getting jobs and others feeling it was unnecessary. Both sides are debated - degrees provide career direction, networking and technical skills, but not having one allows for exploring different careers, saving on costs and investing savings elsewhere. In the end they agree to continue the discussion later as it had turned into a debate.

The script we used in the whole dialogue activity are as follows and myself is NIKHIL:-
SCENE CONTEXT- EVERYONE IS A COLLEGE GRADUATE AND ARE WORKING
PROFESSIONALS MEETING AFTER A LONG TIME DISCUSSING ABOUT MANY THINGS. BUT RIGHT NOW THEY ARE DISCUSSING ABOUT THE TOPIC I.E. ‘ARE COLLEGE DEGREES IMPORTANT?’ AND WE ARE NOT DEBATING. RITESH- Right now as we were talking about college, this thought came in my mind, IS COLLEGE DEGREE REALLY IMPORTANT? For anyone! SAUMYA- NOW, when I am thinking about this. I can say that college degree was really important for me, because when I gave my interview they were really impressed with my college scores and it kind of helped me. JANANI- IN MY INSTANCE, they didn’t even watch my degree or didn’t even asked about my college, they just watched my Content Writing and Piece to Camera samples and it did all the work. NIKHIL- UNLIKE YOU GUYS, college degree was most important for me, because I got the job from college placements and they noticed everything, my college degree, marks and even my performance in extracurricular activities. So for me degree played a very important role. SAUMYA- What about you Ritesh? Because as far as I remember, you already started your business while you were in second or third year of college. Was college degree really needed for you? Or did you even needed to go to college at first place? Hahahahaha RITESH-Firstly, I needed to go to college there is no joke about it. Secondly, I don’t think I needed college DEGREE for my business, but not gonna lie, college really did helped me with my social skills and it helped me in my daily tasks. JANANI- But I think, one can always improve any of its skills being in outside world more rather than being in college and dividing its attention in different college activities. NIKHIL- IN MY OPINION, I think college gives you the right direction you need to improve those skills, so you can improve it effectively and efficiently and use those skills in real world for your betterment. SAUMYA- IN addition to that, if someone wants to get in a technical field, he\she needs to have a college degree because, you wouldn’t want someone who isn’t a certified civil engineer to design your Country Roads. RITESH- and Also you wouldn’t want anyone without a MBBS degree to treat you in your tough times. NIKHIL-but when we say that you need to have a college degree to get in a technical field, does this also mean that it kind of limits your career options? JANANI- yeah, can’t argue on that. Because you are only studying subjects that are important for going in that field and you have already invested so much time that you can’t escape from that. RITESH- We can say that about technical field, but in some degrees there are also general subjects which teaches you basic marketing, designing and communication skills which can really help you to change fields NIKHIL- But when someone don’t go for a college degree, then they can do trial and error by trying different professions and then go for the job that he\she finds perfect fit for themselves. JANANI- YEAH and it can help them to maximize their professional experiences in the workforce SAUMYA- and it also helps them to enhance their resume, achieve promotions and learn real-world valuable skills while others attend college courses. JANANI- but when someone don’t have a college degree, isn’t it hard for them to stand out to employers because you don’t have the network, the referrals college provides you. SAUMYA- yeah they gotta pay in some way or another, here they gotta pay it with extra hardwork in making their resume or portfolio so strong, that employer can’t ignore them. NIKHIL- Yes college does provide you with networking opportunities, you get the chance to connect with variety of working professionals who might or might not have similar career interests and career inspirations. RITESH- I know friends can be made anywhere, but friends becoming professional references, business partners or potential employer connections can only be done in college. NIKHIL- and if someone decides to not go to college for a degree, then he\she can save education-related costs and debt. JANANI- then he can invest it in other things like starting his own business, or investing in other instruments or devices that he might need to sharp his or her skills like laptops, tablets or even musical instruments. RITESH- there is also other things he\she can invest in for better future like in stocks, crypto, mutual funds and some other funds too. SAUMYA- and if he\she needs to go to college for better opportunities in later stage of his life then he can use his savings for the education JANANI- and now it’s turning into debate. Saumya-YEAH we will continue this chat some other time.
