and how it is they view themselves

Garcia 2

The authors of this article are trying to get into the minds of people that use AAS.

Therefore putting themselves in their position by asking themselves questions such as my

their own personal value. They believe that the main reason men use steroids is because

they aim for the perfect physique everyone desires. And they strive to meet those goals

/traits that traditionally characterize and are associated with masculinity. They agree that

the range is around ages of 20-60 and will be conducting experiments in that age group

which involved a group of people that were already on AAS and other half stopped but

used it at one point. And would ask each participant questions to get into the mentality.

When most of it is said and done they concluded that the reason male take Steroids is to

become the ideal man.”they had a wish for the perfect male body, they wanted to get

bigger and gain more muscle”

Yes it does pertain to my article because it thoroughly gives many viewpoints and

examples of why male take steroids and what the effects are throughout their lives.

Garcia 3

The thesis of this article is despite all the information said about Steroids such as

cardiovascular, reproductive, hematologic, and neuropsychiatric effects described there is

no guideline or evidence based harm reduction that approaches males that are actively

using AAS.The authors claim that Around 2.9-4 million americans have used AAS at

one point in their life time. And believe that the most men in the world feel vulnerable and

prone to getting body dysmorphia and due to that fact they turn to AAS to get those

quick results they yearn for; The male gaze. As is said in the article, often when a patient

is seeking help they go to someone who has dealt with similar patients so they can

provide guidance despite them not stating that they will stop. They showed genuine

concern by even seeking care.

It does pertain to my article because despite them not necessarily goingthe good or bad

side they were able to thoroughly explain their idea which is just the truth of using

steroids.

Brusseau et al believe that steroids have a negative impact as a whole on adolescents

physical and mental health and wellbeing. They conducted a study which was to examine

the associations of physical activity, school safety, and non-prescription steroid use that

was used in a group of teenagers raging from 2014-2019. Throughout the article the

authors claim that steroids for the majority have more negative effects on the human body

and are worse due to the fact that adolescents' bodies are still growing such as damage to

the internal organs, arrest of bone growth, male feminization, female masculinization,

and an increased risk of injection site infection. The authors say that studies have shown

that steroids have been seen to be used a lot more in competitive sports. Throughout the

article they explain how Athletes want to increase their strength and athletic ability and

due to that they turn to AAS.

This pertains to my article because it talks about young athletes and teenagers and the

effects it has on them and how improving their results in sports will overall affect their

health.

Garcia 5

The author's main research throughout their article was to investigate new kidney injury

biomarkers among bodybuilders using anabolic androgenic steroids. They conducted an

experiment using AAS users and a group of people that didn't use steroids. The authors of

this article claim that Although working out has a better effect on the mental mind and

health it causes doubt in the mind of a man. Such as body dysphoria and whatnot and

therefore they turn to steroids because it has been proven to have better physical results

such as muscle growth etc. They thoroughly explain their thesis throughout the article

which is about the kidney and steroids they state that most AAS users have reported

massive kidney damage among all age groups but mostly being young males. Overall the

authors believe and prove that use of AAS gets kidney injury among AAS users, mainly

through MCP-1 increase.

This pertains to my article due to it talking about a vital organ in the human body and

how taking AAS affects it and our health.

doi:https://doi.org/10.1186/s40798-021-00371-1.

In this article The researchers will thoroughly view and talk about how they believe that

social media has a big impact on making people use supplements and AAS. The authors
Garcia 6

claim that the main reason why teenagers often resort to AAS is due to impatience and

unrealistic results they see on social media, Therefore making them turn to anabolic

steroids or some form of supplement that is not natural. The authors also believe that

social media use is associated with body image concerns and other negative health

outcomes since they portray the male perfect male bodies and when young teens see that

they yearn for it.

This is in a way pertains to my topic because despite not me talking about the social

media aspect of it it helps me view the mindset of a teenager and how easy it is to get into

their heads and makeand them to do some dumb decisions

The author of this article Claims how Dangerous and deadly AAS can be as it is the 34

year old when he was found dead.in can be assumed that the long-term consumption of

anabolic androgenic steroids caused different patterns when it came to his heart and

therefore made him drop dead. As well as different side effects that may come when

using steroids such as small lumed coronary artery, ventricular hypertrophy. Which sadly

led to the fatal cardiovascular failure.

Garcia 7

This article pertains and helps me throughout my article because it is one of the ones that

best explains just how the body truly reacts to steroids. Despite the positive effects it has

on the body such as mass and strength the end goal will most likely be death or someone

in really bad health.

recreational workouts in adults cause that. So this Citation does not pertain to my article.

The authors of this article explain how common AAS has become throughout the gym

community and people who work out in general in resisting training. The authors then

explain that there are many side effects when using AAS such as Inappropriate use of
Garcia 8

these medications can result in atherosclerosis, hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, liver

cancer, and prostatic hypertrophy. And overall will make them more aggressive due to all

the hormones their body is producing. They claim that in 2001 0.3 of the adult population

in gym communities had used AAS at one point in their lifetime. They then did an

experiment to get results from people who use and don't use and when concluding the

experiment it was found that most of the participants did not use AS, whereas 9.1%

formerly used, 3.4% currently used, and 4.3% though they intended to use.

It pertains to my article because it gives me a viewpoint of just how common and how

many people have turned to AAS and as a result has become a very common substance

despite its common negative effects.

Researchers claim throughout this article that the abuse of AAS can severely impact one's

mental health. The Authors of this article say that most of the people that took AAS in

India didn't even realize it was banned And Claimed that although steroids does give you

increased strength, muscle size, and power it will also majorly affect increased acne,
Garcia 9

deepening of voice, swelling of feet, increased irritability, depressive thoughts, impaired

judgment, panic disorder, and withdrawal effect. Despite the little good it brings the

evidence points to there being more bad than good. Once concluded with all their

research and data they collected they found out that AAS and education may not be a

deterrent factor for their abuse.

The article of this author helped me view different perspectives as well as the causes and

the Dangerous effects of AAS but that it is not a deterrent factor of abuse so it helped

open my mind to a different kind of knowledge.
