This portion of the culminating activity will be marked using the rubric out of 40 and worth 10%
of your final grade. Things to remember:
1) Bring all the needed materials from class slides, none will be provided in class.
2) Bring your flowchart with all the given formulas; no other resources can be used.
3) Read all the instructions carefully before starting
4) Check that you have fulfilled all the criteria (look at the instructions AND the rubric)
before submitting your work.
5) Provide full solutions with proper mathematical notation, communication, formatting and
vocabulary good communication and formatting for full marks.
6) All final answers are always in simplified form.
7) Attach only the rubric to your work, not the whole electronic file
8) Submit in one compiled pdf file. I am not able to mark other format and will not mark
multiple files.
Search the internet on how to make and use a clinometer, how to measure stride length, and
how to calculate the height of an object that is taller than you are. Do this before starting your
trigonometry culminating portion on Mon Jan 17th. It will make it less stressful to complete by
2:30pm.
Pick an object that is taller than you ; be specific. For example, door frame of room 296.
Height from your eye to the ground, to hundredth, in metres. Memorize for class.
Length of your stride, to hundredth, in metres , NOT shoe size. Memorize for class.
You will be person A and your partner will be person B. Who is your partner? If you are in class,
one will be assigned to you in class.
You will need to draw a labelled diagram and do calculations with your recorded measurements.
You cannot use your prep sheet in class for the culminating. It is practicing purpose only. The
remainder of your activity will be released on Brightspace or given in class at the beginning of
Monday’s class. Remember to use the steps taught in class.

** MINOR MISTAKES are those such as adding or subtracting errors, copying a number incorrectly, etc.
**MAJOR MISTAKES are those such as using the wrong formula, algebraic manipulation errors, not using
connecting words, etc.
