Data Warehouse HCM Workforce Subject Areas

Data Warehouse Subject Areas

Subject Areas are individual libraries of related information. They are the bases for reports created in
OBIEE. The HCM Subject Areas include the State of Minnesota’s human resources and payroll data from
SEMA4, as well as data from Recruiting Solutions.
This document lists the HCM – Learning and Workforce Areas in the Data Warehouse and the SEMA4
security roles that are needed to access that data. The SEMA4 Security Role Column lists both the role on
the SWIFT Security Access form and the name of the role that displays on the annual security certification.
Note: The restricted HR/Payroll warehouse roles are not listed on this document. If you have the
restricted roles you will see this data in the subject areas.

SWIFT Data Warehouse Access

The SWIFT Data Warehouse is accessed through the SWIFT Administrative Portal using the business
intelligence tool OBIEE (Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition).
Users will need security clearance in order to access the SWIFT Data Warehouse/OBIEE. To obtain access,
you will need to fill out the Request for Access to SWIFT Statewide Systems form
The SWIFT Data Warehouse security is focused on 2 areas:
1. You will need one of the ‘General Warehouse Roles’. These roles define your permissions in OBIEE.
The role assigned to you is determined by your agency security administrator.

2. In order to create analysis, or view a report from the SWIFT Data Warehouse\OBIEE, you will also need
SEMA4 role(s) to access HCM Data Subjects and HCM Statewide reports.
SEMA4 (Human Resources and Payroll) data is based on the SEMA4 Warehouse roles and Department
security.

If you have a SEMA4 role but do not have access to OBIEE (SWIFT Data Warehouse), you will need to
complete a SWIFT Security Access form and request one of the General Warehouse Roles.
