1.

Needs further development, as there are no set parameters as to what makes something
better or worse, and so it's a little ill defined and vague, especially because it is so broad
as to include all types of food. A better question would be, what are the health and
environmental benefits of eating organic vs inorganic vegetables?

2. This question needs development to the point of being unusable, it is very broad, and
can’t be tackled in its entirety in a short paper. It could be improved by arguing
something along the lines of “to what extent does communications technology help
society, and how much does it harm it?”

3. This question needs further development because it is very specific and does not
provide enough material for a paper, a better question would be, How was the Higgs
boson discovered, and in what ways did it immediately impact the field of particle
physics.

4. This question is unusable, it is very subjective, difficult to argue based on evidence, and
also provides very little material to work with unless heavily reworked.

5. This thesis needs further development, as it has implicit bias towards the author's
perspective inherent in its phrasing, it could be rephrased as to what extent should
women serve combat roles in the Canadian military and why?

6. This research question is usable as is, it is appropriately specific, and there is a lot of
background knowledge to draw on to make a well-cited paper.

7. This question needs further development, it is limited in scope and the way that it is
phrased makes it seem based almost entirely on personal opinion. It could be reworked
as what are the factors that influence individuals to paint their rooms different colours?

8. This question is unusable, unless you happen to be a veterinary psychologist there isn’t
any research you can do on this subject, and even if you were, it's a very fringe case
with very little substance to it, one subject's personal fear of bananas is not enough to
base a paper around.

9. This question needs further development, its phrasing is vague and awkward, and
doesn’t really give us much in terms of what the author's focus is. It could be reworked
as “how has the geography and geology of Edmonton been altered by human impacts?”

10. This question needs development, there’s no way to define what best is, it could be
reworked from an environmental angle into to what extent are certain petroleum
alternatives more eco-friendly and accessible.

11. This question is usable, it is specific, functional and draws on a subject with a large body
of research without being too broad.
12. This question is usable, while it is a very specific subject, it is approached from an open
frame that allows lots of information to be drawn in to create a balanced and well-
sourced argument.

13. This question needs a little development, and could be made more specific by
referencing a particular group or demographic of students, as in to what extent does
freezing tuition affect student debt in North America?

14. This question needs further development as it is too broad, and would be too long for our
style of research paper. It could be reworked as to what extent does (insert factor here)
affect anxiety?

15. This question also is very broad and needs further development, it would be better
phrased as to what extent should governments legalise and control the sale of drugs, but
even that might be too vague.
