Description 3
Chapter overview
This chapter describes the design and function of individual modules of the ID-Centrifuge 6S / 6S
Accu, ID-Centrifuge 12SII, or ID-Centrifuge 24S including the operating and display panels as well as
the basic principles of the process.
The ID-System is based on a process for determining antigen and antibody complexes (EU Patent
0305337). Agglutinated particles are separated from non-agglutinated particles by means of an inert
gel. ID-Cards containing six microtubes filled with gel are used.
The reaction takes place in the microtubes prefilled with gel. The gel suspension contains the specific
antibodies, reagents or buffer mixtures depending on the determination to be performed.

(3) Gel column
(4) Opening to reaction chamber
(5) Identification label (3)
The reactions remain visible in an unchanged state for several days and can be clearly assessed.
The methodology and reactions are standardized. High precision is required with respect to
centrifugation time and speed is to ensure the quality of the analyses.

Description
Only ID-Cards may be used in the centrifuges. There are different types of cards available:
• ID-Cards with gel which contains specific antibodies to determine erythrocyte antigens (blood
groups antigens and other rare antigens);
• ID-Cards with gel which contain the anti-human globulin (mono-/polyspecific for performing anti-body
search tests, anti-body identification, tolerance test and to determine the direct Coomb tests;
• ID-Cards with neutral gel to determine the serum check, NaCl and the enzyme test.
Detailed information on the ID-Cards available is contained in the Sales Catalog for the ID-System.
The ID-Centrifuge 6S / 6S Accu, ID-Centrifuge 12SII, and ID-Centrifuge 24S have more or less the

You will find a full description of possible faults and the measures which must be taken to rectify
these faults in chapter “7 Troubleshooting”.
The manufacturer recommends starting a maintenance record for every centrifuge at the time of the
initial operation. This log should be used to record all occurrences, such as all of the checks which
are carried out, maintenance and replacement work and all necessary repair work carried out on the
centrifuge.
A photocopying template with a form for keeping a maintenance record can be found in the appendix
at the end of this User Manual.
All of the necessary information concerning the initial operation can be entered in the spaces provided
on this form, together with all subsequent notes.
Whenever repair work is necessary, the centrifuge should be accompanied by the completed
maintenance record, in order that the repair personnel can have access to this. This can reduce the
necessary repair time considerably.
