Briefly discuss 5 reasons “Why should I pay tax?”

1. To complete the duty as citizen.

Paying tax is a compulsory and considered as civic duty and a part of law itself. The
government agency then will use the taxes payment to finance the public facilities and
infrastructure such as transportation to ease the life of citizen. That’s why people are
obligated to pay the taxes or else will be compound or face penalties even can go to jail.
Thus, the taxes are compulsory to be paid in order government can finance the public
facilities.
2. Taxes help to maintain the roads travel, public libraries, and parks. Taxes also helps to funds
the government’s programs that help the poor and less fortune. Each of these facilities need
a regular maintenance to work in long term. Therefore, governments need budget to
manage the property.
3. As we are known, taxes in one of government’s source of income. In our country Malaysia,
we have local, state, and federal level. Each of them has their own function and authorities
such as legislators as make laws, executives who enforce law and judges etc. therefore, the
government will use these money to pay them.
4. Welfare schemes. These taxes are benefit a lot of citizens. By paying taxes, we can provide
the government support systems with ability to work on more welfare schemes and
programs. For example, pension schemes, house schemes, medical schemes and many more
different sectors to the society. All of these will help the government in making the country
become more powerful and prosperous.
5. Helps to build the development of the nation. When we are paying tax, we are contributing
our services indirectly to the government in managing the country. We have achieved as
responsible citizen for our country to develop the country and grow further.
