Reference Documents
This release of the CargoMax program was developed in accordance with the following vessel
documentation.

1. Hydrostatic Curves KN Curves Loading Conditions and Longitudinal Strength, Naval

Gijon, Dwg. 30.01.413.02
2. Table of Cargo Spaces and Tanks, Naval Gijon, Dwg. 30.01.415.01
3. Bonjean Curves (Booklet), Naval Gijon, Dwg. Unnumbered, Dated: August 1998

General Information
This document presents the ship specific information for the subject vessel. It is a required
companion document to the more general "CargoMax for Windows User's Manual". The User's
Manual is the primary reference for information on the program including installation,
calculations and features. Latest changes to the manual are given in the README.WRI file
included on the installation CD.

Special Instructions

Notes on CG and Free Surface

The CG and Free Surface are calculated based on the level of liquid in each tank. For Cargo Oil,
Fuel Oil, Diesel Oil and Lube Oil, the 98% free surface value is used even if the tank is pressed
up to 100%. For Fresh Water, SWB and Misc. Tanks, a zero free surface is used when the tank
is pressed up.

Vessel Operating Restrictions

Righting arm (GZ) calculations are also performed and comparisons made with IMO A.167 to
confirm intact stability requirements. Appropriate warnings are provided to the user.
However, note that CargoMax does not incorporate a required GMt curve or other means to
check compliance with damage stability criteria.
NOTE: No shear force or bending moment allowables have been provided in any of the
referenced documents listed above. This CargoMax does however, have shear force or
bending moment allowables entered, that are based on the largest values generated by
any single, approved loading condition of Ref. 1. These have been entered for guidance
purposes only and are not meant to imply approval by Class.

In Service Verification
It is recommended that the user verify the correct functioning of the program at regular intervals
using the sample load cases included herein. To maintain approval by Class, it may also be
required to carry out the test in the presence of a Class Surveyor at annual or periodic surveys.
The sample cases should be entered manually and the results compared and found to be identical.
When type approved hardware is not used, the test should be carried out on the first and second
nominated computers.
