STORY ANALYSIS OF HINILAWOD

Hinilawod is a Filipino epic poem that tells stories about the Halawod River. Hinilawod is the oldest and
longest epic poem in the Philippines. The meaning of Hinilawod is generally translated as "Tales From The
Mouth of The Halawod River", and it's suitable for its title because when you read the story you will know how
the mouth of Halawod is formed.

The plot serves as this story's main theme. You can see how the three brothers took a risk here because it's not a
good thing to put your life in danger for those you love. Labaw Donggon, Humadapnon, and Dumalapdap are
the three main characters of the story, and they are the children of Alunsina and Paubari. Labaw Donggon,
Humadapnon, and Dumalapdap are the three main characters of the story, and they are the children of Alunsina
and Paubari. Labaw Donggon is the eldest son, and Humadapnon is the hero of the epic, and Dumalapdap has
superior strength.

The conflict (external) in this epic story is when the three sons of Alunsina and Paubari fight for their desired
wife. The conflict was resolved when Dumalapdap returned home with Goddess of breeze and they reunited
with their siblings. Their parents were so happy when they reunited, and they prepared a feast in their honor.
This story uses an omniscient point of view because the narrator seems to have complete knowledge of all the
characters and their relationships. In the province of Panay, where the primary action happens, here almost
everything happened from Alunsina and Paubari being wife and husband until they had a children, and it
happens in historical period and day time.

This epic story covers 3 days and is the longest epic. The story starts when Alunsani married Paubari, and when
Maklium-sa-t'wan discovered the marriage, he became angry, so he vowed to make the life of the couple
miserable. The story's rising action occurs when Saragnayan defeats and imprisons Labaw Danggon. The
climax in this story is when they go to revenge Saragnayan and save their brother, Labaw Dangon. The falling
action is when they save and defeat Saragnayan, and the resolution is when they reunite again and celebrate
because Dumalapdap came home with his desired wife.

This story is not realistic because it's not true that there are monsters or villains with power in this world. No
one has any power in this world, and the only fiction example in this story is when there's a goddess. No one in
the world has seen anything like that. The events in this story are in chronological order. It starts with how
Alunsina and Paubari started their life in the mountains until they had children. Their children managed to get
their desired wife and win the fight against the villain.

I identify most with the main characters, which are Labaw Donggon, Humadapnon, and Dumalapdap. Labaw
Donggon is the oldest, Humadapnon has a spirit friend, and Dumalapdap is the youngest. Uyutang is one of the
villains in the story. Uyutang the monster was similar to a bat with sharp, poisonous claws. The dynamic
characters are the three siblings, Labaw Donggon, Humadapnon, and Dumalapdap.

The example of simile in this story is Uyutang, a bat-like monster with sharp poisonous claws. The example of
metaphor is growing up to become a giant. The last example of personification is the rock grew wider every
step. Like the other epic heroes of the Philippines, Labaw Donggon is described as being handsome, mighty,
and strong. The epic demonstrates the true characteristics of a hero through the character of Humadapnon.
When faced with challenges and hardship, a true hero is able to triumph and complete the task at hand. Despite
having superior strength, Dumalapdap is extremely innocent and childlike.

The moral lesson in this story is that no matter how difficult life's trials are, we just keep on facing them, and if
you want to achieve something, there are many ways to achieve it. Always trust yourself. The Hinilawod is a
literary work that has a lot of information about our culture in the Philippines, and it also shows how important
the love of a family is.
