Final Reflection

By Princessa Montano
WHAT DID I LEARN ABOUT
MYSELF?
I did not believe I could cope with high stress as much as I did. There is stuff
constantly going on in a special education classroom. On the first day, I
witnessed a boy bite another boy in the first twenty minutes. I witnessed many
emotional breakdowns, but I was still excited to come the next day to observe.
WHAT CAN I CHANGE?

Student Teacher
I need to work on not I need to work on finding
procrastinating as much as I better ways to explain myself
do. during instructions.
WHAT DID I NOT
EXPECT?
EDU 222
The amount of information I can
learn in a small amount of time.

OBSERVATION
How diverse each student is not
only in their needs but their
personality.
FAVORITE PART
My favorite part in my EDU 222 class was standing up and
answering questions on whiteboards and with my peers. It took
collaboration to the next level.

Sitting with the students during lunchtime was my favorite part of

my observation hours. I loved watching how picky they were with
their food (one student ate pizza without the cheese AND tomato
sauce).
CHALLENGES
EDU 222 OBSERVATION
Getting used to yelling and

crying was challenging when a
a new topic every week. It felt
student didn't get their way. I'm
like once I was starting to
not fond of loud and sudden
understand the subject, I couldn't

fully master it since I would start
learning about a new one. regulate myself initially.
ADVICE FOR TEACHERS
1. Be as 2. Find new methods

3. Get to know your

students, especially
their learning styles.
WHERE DO I SEE MYSELF IN 3 YEARS?
I would finish my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education
in three years. I would start looking for a job as a teacher
from 1st to 5th grade. I hope to be moved out or with plans
to move out that year. It would be my first year as a
teacher!
WHAT WOULD I CHANGE FOR NEXT
YEAR?
I would focus more on having more study time for each class.
Sometimes I would give more priority to one class over the other
depending on what assignments are due. This is not a good habit once
I transfer to a university.
WHAT WORKED IN EDU 222?

IS TEACHING FOR ME?
Yes! I enjoy working with children and seeing
their thought process. This is one of the most
rewarding careers that takes much work. I am
really excited to become a teacher!
