works contract he issued. Allan Kammerer, a young Vice-President of a struggling consulting
firm agreed to this condition. Allan cited that bringing work to his concern and retaining his
‘employees is the main reason for the decision. Discuss the Normative or moral issues involved in
this case. (5 Marks)
2. Many accidents are caused by using cellular phones white driving. The risk of accident is four
times greater when the driver is using the cell phone. This is the same as driving the car drunk,
23 countries have banned the use of cell phone while driving. Cell phones and the means of
mounting them in automobiles are designed by engineers. What responsibility do engineers have
regarding this problem? (5 Marks)
3. Read the following ethical problem about building large dams, and apply each one of the four
ethical theories to find whether large dams should be built. Compare the solutions provided by
cach theory. "Building of large dams across rivers, most often leads to great benefit to the
society, by providing supplies of irrigation and drinking water, flood control and power
generation. However, these benefits often come at the cost of people who live in areas that will
be flooded by the construction of the dam. They lose their homes, livelihood, and are put to other
suffering”. (5 Marks)
4, An Engineer is required to design a “Pressure Vessel” using a specific “Design Code” that
requires material thickness of 20mm. The designer is asked to reduce the thickness of the
material in order to reduce costs for the customer who is planning to buy a large number of these
vessels, What does he do? (5 Marks)
