Duties of the Committee Chairs:

Audit  The BHRSP treasurer presents the auditor with the monthly budgets for
September through May.
 The auditor also received the projected budget which has been voted on
by the membership.
 The auditor can select up to three other members to help with this task.
 The auditor either endorses the documentation or shares with the
treasurer any discrepancies.
Calling  Membership person will notify committee chair to call people not using e-
mail.
 The calling person will contact those individuals about each meeting.
 If in calling, someone is sick report to card chair.
Community Service  At each meeting, encourage members to identify the numbers of
volunteer hours they do each week.
 Can keep members informed as to pertinent community activities and
needs.
 These hours are those without pay or taking care of family members.
 Before the South Dakota Retired School Personnel meeting, provide the
State Officer of Community/Health Service the total number of volunteer
hours of BHRSP members.
Cards  Encourage members to notify committee chair if someone needs a Get
Well or Sympathy card.
Grandparent Essay  Recruit 5th grade teachers to participate with the Grandparent Essay
 Identify dates and forms necessary on the state website.
 May which to go into the classroom and talk to the students.
 Select essay judges from BHRSP membership to select a 1 st, 2nd and 3rd
winner.
 Watch for date due in sending the local 1 st place winning essay to state
office????
 When sending in the final form remember to request metals for the three
top essays.
 The three metals will be available for each council at the State Convention.
Keystone School  Recruit BHRSP members to volunteer in May at the Keystone School.
 The BHRSP treasurer will receive the registration money at the end of May.
Legislation  Committee chair(s) will inform members of legislation affecting retired
school personnel.
 Encourage members to vote.
New Retirees  Encourage retired school personnel to join BHRSP.
 Assist the membership officer with mailings/information to possible new
members.
 Contact newly retired school personnel with congratulatory
letters/invitation to a special event.

 Take pictures during the meeting and send them to the webmaster to be
posted on the BHRSP website.
Photographer  The postings help with getting acquainted with members and highlighting
programs.
Public Relations  Publicize the time and place of meetings through the news media.
Registration  Individuals at the desk to welcome members into the meeting.
 Have members sign in and offer name tags.
Social  Individual(s) will prepare coffee for the 2:00 social time.
 Help with having people sign up to being cookies or treats.
 There needs to be at least 2 people bringing treats so a signup sheet is
necessary.
 The signup sheet includes names and phone number. Social committee
can call to remind members to bring their treats.
Webmaster  The webmaster will receive e-mail information which needs to be added to
the web.
 Items may include news of officers, committee members, meeting
schedules, month programs, and updates for example by-laws.
50/50  50/50 is a money raiser for special projects agreed upon by the
membership.
 The chairperson brings tickets to the meeting. The tickets give them a
chance to win ½ of the money collected starting at the September meeting
and ending at April meetings.

 After April, the money left will be set aside until there is enough money for
the memberships’ special project.
