AUTOPSY QUESTION

EXTERNAL findings:

Highly decomposed body of a male aged about 50 years, finger and toe nails were
blue in color. Face, Chest, Abdomen, Legs and upper limbs were bloated. Blood
stained decomposed frothy discharge from the mouth and nostrils oozing out. Eye
balls were softened and bulged out. Tongue bulged out. Scalp hairs come off
easily. Postmortem blebs and peeling of the skin noted all over the body.
Crawling maggots seen all over the body mostly around the natural orifices.
Partial degloving of hands and soles noted.

INTERNAL findings:

 Each pleural cavity contains 50ml of decomposed fluid. Peritoneal cavity


contains 100ml of decomposed fluid. Heart, Lungs, Liver, Spleen, Kidneys
decomposed, morphology made out, structural configuration altered.
 Stomach and intestine: glued together, seen as a black greasy enmasse.
 Bladder – Empty.
 Brain- liquedfied – no evidence of any blood clots.
 Hyoid bone – Intact.
 Larynx & Trachea – mucosa decomposed.
