Panama Papers: Investigation of 500 Indians as per new anti-black money law
Union Government declared that action will be taken against unlawful accounts held abroad by
Indians and constituted a multi-agency group to continuously monitor information after the
Report from Panama Papers which says 500 Indians being named off illegal fund holdings in
abroad.
Special Investigation Team:
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi mulling to set up a group which has been comprising
agencies like CBDT, RBI and FIU. Finance Minister ArunJaitlysaid that detailed
assessment orders have led to the discovery of illegal assets worth around Rs 6,500
crore.
• The Special Investigation Team will investigate thoroughly the reported secret list
exposed by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).
• They will continuously monitor accounts and whichever accounts are found to be
unlawful, strict action as per existing laws will be taken.

Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister dedicates 36 new CNG stations in Delhi & NCR
The Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan dedicated 36 new

CNG stations located in Delhi and NCR to the public. 30 out of these stations have been installed
by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL).
• Three stations were by Haryana City Gas in Gurgaon, one by GAIL Gas in Sonepat and

NRDC signs License Agreement with M/S Nagarjuna Agro Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. for Soil
Moisture Indicator of ICAR
Hyderabad-based National Research Development Corporation(NRDC) has been appointed
as the nodal agency for commercialising licensing the technical know-how for manufacture
of Soil Moisture Indicator in the country.

Shan-E-Punjab Express Becomes the First Train Fitted with CCTV Surveillance Cameras
Union Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu inaugurates fitment of CCTV in Shan-E-Punjab Express
(Amritstar-New Delhi) through Video-Conferencing. CCTV Surveillance Cameras installation is
a one more step towards improving security in Indian Trains.
• The installation of surveillance systems was done through Ms/ A-Paul Instrument
Company at an approximate cost of 36.71 lakh.

• The campaign aims to generate nation-wide efforts to increase social harmony across
villages, strengthen Panchayati Raj, promote rural development, and foster farmers’
progress. Hon’ble Prime Minister will inaugurate the Campaign of 14th April 2016 at MHOW
in Madhya Pradesh.
125-foot tall Ambedkar statue to come up in Hyderabad
Hyderabad will feature a 125-foot tall Statue of B R Ambedkar, the architect of Indian
Constitution, just beside the city’s famous landAprks such as Hussian Sagar Lake and the state
secretariat, in a year from now.
National Agriculture Aprket portal:
PM Narendra Modi launched National Agriculture Aprket portal that will have 21 mandis from
8 States to connect e-mandis in several states at a function in the national capital on the 125th
birth anniversary of Ambedkar.
• The Scheme launched on a pilot basis of states include Gujarat, Rajasthan,
Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
• The government is aiming to integrate 200 mandis by September this year and
entire 585 mandis by Aprch 2018.
• About 200 crore rupees has been sanctioned for this purpose.The Agriculture Ministry
further said the government has received proposals from 12 states for integration of
365 wholesale mandis.

Union government has renamed the Panagarh airbase Base as Air Force Station Arjan

SC/ST victims to get minimum compensation of Rs 8.5 lakh from state government
Union government to compensate of Rs 8.5 lakh for SC/ST victim of gang rape, murder or an
acid attack including 47 offencesto get the compensation from a state government, The new
rules have come into force immediately.
Amended SC/ ST Prevention of Atrocities Act 1995:
• The amended the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities)
Rules, 1995, in which states will pay compensation ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 8.25
lakh to SC/ST victims.
• The amounts now must be paid by the state within 7 days of the incident being
reported, either in full or at various stages of the investigation and trial, as per a
schedule.
• The new rule says state Police have to file a charge sheet in cases of SC/ST victims
within 60 days and any delay has to be explained in writing by the officers.

New Rules notified by Government to revamp Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes
(Prevention of Atrocities) Act
Union government has notified the new rules on the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes
Act, 1989 was amended by Parliament in Dec 2015.
• The notified rules will ensure speedy justice to their members, it also mandates police
to file charge sheet within 60 days after a complaint is lodged.
Important Provisions:
• The law emphasizes relief for offences of rape and gang rape, this is the first
time such provisions being implemented.

• The rule notifies medical examination for getting reprieve amount for non-invasive kind
of offences against women like sexual harassment, gestures, assault or use of criminal
force with intent to disrobe, voyeurism, stalking.
• It includes relief amount to SC/ST women for offences of grievous nature, on
conclusion of trial, even though not ending in conviction.
• Monetary increase in the standing quantum of relief amount from between Rs.
75,000/-to Rs. 7, 50,000/-to between Rs. 85,000/- to Rs. 8, 25,000/- upon the
nature of the offence, while linking it with the Consumer Price Index for Industrial
Workers for the month of January, 2016.

Union Railway Ministry to set up Rs 1 lakh crore Rashtriya Rail Sanraksha Kosh
Ministry of Railways has pledged to set up a 1 lakh crore rupees safety fund called Rashtriya
Rail Sanraksha Kosh which aimed to strengthen safety measures on the rail network to
prevent accidents.

Rajasthan becomes the first state in India to clear land title Bill
The Vasundhara Raje-led government has managed to pass the Rajasthan Urban
Land(Certification of Titles) Bills 2016 in the state assembly.
Provisions in the Bill:

state development authorities, can seek a certificate of ownership of their lands by
paying a nominal fee to the state government.

• After P5 nations sanctions against Iran, India has been eying deeper energy ties with
that country and has already lined up 20 billion US dollar as investment in oil and
gas also in petrochemical and fertilizer projects in Iran.

Finalisation of Trilateral Chabahar Agreement

• These pumps will come enabled with sAprt control panel and a SIM card, giving
farmers the flexibility to switch-on and switch-off these pumps from their mobile
phones and from the comfort of their homes.
Energy Efficient Fan Programme:
• Two ceiling fans can be bought on one electricity bill from domestic category consumers
only. Energy Efficient Ceiling Fans of 5-star rating 50 Watts will be provided at Rs 60 a
month on EMI basis and Rs. 1250/- on upfront basis.
• This means, a consumer can recover the cost of this energy-efficient ceiling fan in less than
2 years. While these energy-efficient ceiling fans will cost Rs 1440/- to a consumer who
uses the instalment method, for those who can pay upfront can buy this fan for Rs
1250.

Kane Williamson, Ben Stokes make through Wisden’s top five cricketers of 2015
In the 153rd and latest edition of Wisden has included New Zealand captain Kane Williamson
and predecessor Brendon McCullum are among Wisden’s five cricketers of the year.
• Australia captain Steve Smith, and England’s Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow were
the others announced.
Williamson was picked as the leading cricketer in the world by Wisden, having “confirmed himself
as one of the talents of his generation for hitting an impressive 2,692 international runs in 2015.
Wisden’s Women Cricketer:
• While Kane’s compatriot Suzie Bates was named the leading women’s cricketer, having
scored her sixth one-day international century against England in February.

ICC and Emirates Airline renewed deal for additional seven years
Dubai headed International Cricket Council (ICC) has extended its contract with Emirates Airline

cycle and the sponsor of the ICC’s elite panel of umpires and match referees.
• This new deal is an extension and expansion of that partnership as Emirates will

BCCI forgives West Indies for abandoning 2014 tour, waives off USD 42 million penalty
Indian Cricket administrator BCCI the board has decided to waive off the financial penalty of
USD 97 million that was levied on the West Indies Cricket Board for withdrawal of their 2014
series against India in the halfway.
