When it comes to producing films and TV programmes, many countries in the world
have strict censorship laws. This means that if a film is said to be suitable for
children under the age of twelve, for example, it should not contain bad language
or images of strong violence and killing. This would be 1 for people of
2
this age because their minds are considered to be too . Likewise,
programmes which are shown on TV before 9 p.m. should not contain 3
images of naked bodies. Media companies must not behave in a/an 4
way when it comes to following the laws for the entertainment industry. If they do,
they will be breaking the law.

Murder mystery weekends

A
A ‘murder mystery weekend’ is a fun way to try your hand at being a detective! The
weekend involves a two-night stay in a hotel, during which a ‘murder’, or multiple
murders, will be committed. Guests have to solve the mystery of 'whodunnit'
(who’s done it) and identify the murderer. It goes without saying that they are not
actual murders. A group of professional actors play the characters in the story. On
some weekends, the guests might be actively involved in the drama by also playing
roles, which are sent to them in advance, but on others the guests just play
themselves. Often the weekends have a theme, such as a certain decade, and
fancy-dress costumes, although by no means an essential requirement, are
encouraged.
B
The weekend kicks off with dinner on Friday, when the story and characters are
introduced. During the evening, a ‘body’ is discovered, the 'police' arrive, and
guests view the scene and the evidence. On Saturday, the police set up a special
‘incident’ room, which contains lots of evidence about the case. All the clues are
provided so there’s no need to seek out extra ones. Guests can stay at the hotel to
study the evidence or they can go and visit local attractions, but guests may
interrogate the actors, who play their parts throughout the entire weekend, at any
time. The police provide information, but it is the guests’ job to crack the case.
C
The organizers of the weekend advise guests to take notes as they discover the
facts. The most crucial thing, however, is to interview everyone who’s involved in
the plot to try to establish who is guilty. Sunday morning is the time when all is
revealed, and the police finally explain the story, the clues and which of them were
irrelevant, and the identity of the murderer!
D
Murder weekends work particularly well for groups of friends celebrating a special
occasion, or colleagues who need to learn to work together. They're also suitable
for couples, or families with teenage children. They're a little quirky, but an
incredible way to spend a weekend!
