STEMpowered Leader

in Training 2022
Are you a high school student looking for that first job experience to add to your resume?

This August , University of Waterloo's Engineering and Science Outreach are proud to partner with
BrainSTEM Alliance and the Caribbean Canadian Association of Waterloo Region to address the increasing
need to create more inclusive and accessible opportunities in STEM education for Black youth.

We are looking to provide a paid 3-week work experience as a Leader in Training (LIT) in our STEMpowered
summer camps. The program builds leadership skills through group problem solving, hands-on program
development and delivery, and first-hand experience working with children. The program in split into two
components. The first component is a one week (40 hours) training session which prepares the LIT to enter a
camp room. The second component is two weeks (approx. 80 hours) of placement within the STEMpowered
camp.

Open to Black youth entering Grades 10-12 in Fall 2022


Training week: July 25th - 29th
Week 1 Placement: August 8th - 12th, 2022
Week 2 Placement: August 15th - 19th, 2022
Program runs daily 8:30am - 4:30pm
