as an Agent of Socialization
and Communication

Presentation by: Group 6 (Homo Sapiens)

What is Family, Socialization, and
Communication?

Family - refers to a group of

people related by blood,
marriage, or adoption who
live together and share
resources, responsibilities,
and emotional bonds.
Socialization - is the process whereby an
individual's standards, skills, motives,
attitudes, and behaviors change.

Communication - is the study of how people

convey information, a resource vital not
only in the world of media, but in such
varied fields as business, government, and
human services.
Why Family is the most important Agent of
Socialization and Communication ?

The first agent of socialization. This is because it is the

first group that a child interacts with and learns from.

It is the first and primary social group that an individual is

exposed to. Family members, especially parents, play a
crucial role in shaping an individual's beliefs, values,
attitudes, and behaviors.
How Does Family Members Influence the
Children's Attitudes and Behaviour ?

Family members also serve as role

models for children, influencing their
behavior and attitudes towards
various aspects of life, such as
gender roles, religion, and politics.
Furthermore, family members
provide children with opportunities
to interact with others and learn
social skills, such as communication,
cooperation, and conflict resolution.

Through family interactions, children learn how to express

their emotions, negotiate with others, and develop
empathy and compassion.
Roles and Importance of Family in Society :
Family is connected and important in
society because it provides
socialization, emotional support,
cultural transmission, economic
support, and reproduction. It is the
foundation of society and plays a
critical role in shaping the future
generation.
In summary, family plays a critical role
in socialization by providing children
with a foundation for their social,
emotional, and cognitive development.

It is through family interactions that children learn the

norms, values, and behaviors that are expected of them in
their society, and develop the skills and attitudes
necessary to navigate the social world.
