hold the tooth in place.
Caries – the scientific term for tooth decay or cavities. They are
caused by bacteria that produce an acid which destroys the tooth’s
enamel and dentin.
Abfraction – Loss of tooth tissue along the gum line, not caused by
tooth decay.
Charting – Circle the teeth in blue and draw a blue arrow in the
direction of impaction.
Root Canal and Crown – a procedure in which the nerve and pulp
are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed.
Often due to decay, a crown will be placed on the tooth to protect
it after a root canal.
Charting – draw in red line in the roots that are to be cleaned out.
Blue line if it’s an existing root canal. Fill the top part of the tooth
in with yellow to represent a crown.
Fractured Root – dentin and cementum fracture involving the
pulp.
Charting – Red zigzag line across the affected area. The line should
resemble what the fracture looks like.
Implant – an artificial tooth root placed into the jaw which holds a
replacement tooth.
