The Forgotten Scooter
The sun rises upon the serrated, green lawn
Loud sounds come from the front of the house
It would be the garage door levitating up
And every morning there I would be
With my black and blue scooter

“Be careful with the cars!” my mother would yell

As I quickly darted off the driveway and into the street
With the worlds biggest smile on my face
From all the falls to all the downhill rides
Never would I have thought that anything would compare
Until one bright Christmas morning

I opened a big blue gift under the well-lit tree

And there was a brand-new skateboard
Its design was very compelling
Long streaks of blue and green
It was the gift I never asked for
But never knew I needed

As the sun lit up the front lawn

And the garage door made a blaring noise
There I was not with my scooter
But with my skateboard
Over time, I would use my scooter less and less
Until it was unremembered
After a few years I found it
It looked sad and lonely in its corner
All rusted and broken down
Just like all the memories
