NASA Langly Research Center

May 10, 2023

In NASA’S Langly Research Center I learned that there are a ton of

concept aircraft and spacecraft that are trying to become a real ideas.

They try to research and think about these concepts so that they can be

more fuel efficient and faster. In this tour I saw NASA’S different types of

buildings that they use for researching different aerodynamics and how to

put what they research into what they want to create.

Something important that I saw was NASA’S Gantry which helps them

test there spacecraft for when they try and go onto the moon. When they

run tests for when they comeback from the moon they drop the spacecraft

in to a pool of water they do this because when they actually come back

from wherever space, mars, and the moon they are going to land into the

ocean. NASA tests’s their planes and other aircraft at the gantry to see if

they can improve their safety of the aircraft and get it in the air. I thought

it was interesting that it’s not just NASA who can use the gantry other

companies that have to do with aircraft and spacecraft can use the gantry

to test all their needed functions for their aircraft or spacecraft.

Title: Why NASA wants to go back to the moon

Publication details: 3pgs, Article from newsela

Critical Points: Returning to the moon and back, no health worries about

deep space radiation, Constructing a spacstation around the moon

I think we should go back to the moon and make sure we can do it

safely before we try to go to mars. We need to make sure that there will be

no health problems for our astronaut’s when our spacecraft comes into

contact with the sun’s radiation without the earth’s magnetic field

proteccting us from radiation. Building a spacestation on the moon would

be cool so that we could have more information about the moon we could

launch telescopes and space probes from a farther distance since we

wouldn't have to deal with more immense gravity as the earth has

compared to the moon’s.
