Commonwealth

The Commonwealth is an association of countries across the world.

It is based at Marlborough House in London.
The formal head of the Commonwealth is the British monarch, currently Charles III.
The Commonwealth is made up of 56 member states, including countries from Africa, Asia, the
Americas, Europe, and the Pacific.
The composition of the Commonwealth is changing, some states leaving, some joining, some
returning.
Commonwealth member countries include: Canada, Australia, India, New Zealand, South Africa,
Cyprus, Pakistan, etc..
Most of states are former territories of the British Empire, but today any country can join the modern
Commonwealth.
At the end of the 19th century, during the reign of Queen Victoria, the British Empire entered its
greatest phase of territorial and power expansion.
The Commonwealth was originally known as the British Commonwealth of Nations, and was founded
in 1931.
The Commonwealth is not a political entity, but rather a network of countries that share language,
culture, and historical ties. Also, they share their goals of prosperity, democracy and peace.
