of requirements for bosses, but that's exactly what US mattress company Casper was looking for in its new employees this summer.
In July 2022, it began searching for people who
wanted to "get paid to sleep."
The ideal person, it said, should want to sleep
as much as possible, and be able to sleep through anything. Think it couldn't be that simple? You'd be right.
The successful person, or people, would have
to sleep in public. Casper said they would be sleeping in its stores as well as in unusual places, and "anywhere else people are looking."
The job also includes the "Casper Sleepers"
sharing their sleeping — and their love for it — on social media.
People were encouraged to make short
TikTok-style videos to demonstrate why they would be the ideal sleepers for the job. Casper said the role would be part-time, although all that time could be spent in pajamas.
And while sleeping like a baby would be a
good thing, only people over 18 were able to apply.
The company is reported to have been looking
for a total of three sleepers at $25 an hour.
Casper was the first company to sell
mattresses rolled up in boxes so they could be ordered online. It was founded in New York in 2014. The bad news about all of this, however, is that Casper stopped accepting applications on August 11 — so if you're just learning about this, you're already too late for this dream job. VOCABULARY
